“Close to NYC but much cheaper”
Reviewed 30 June 2012

We pulled in late night and Pedro at the front desk was very helpful and gave us a nice "family room ", it was huge and had two beds and also a pullout sofabed. Overall, a decent hotel and nice staff. The hotel has limited parking but security cameras overlook the street parking in front. Also note that there are no restaurants within walking distance. I had no problems except the shower head, the one in our bathroom just did not have enough pressure. I liked the location because It only took us a few minutes to drive across the river to Manhattan.

My husband and I took our grandson to New York City and wanted to stay near the Newark NJ airport. This hotel was difficult to find and is surrounded by abandoned industrial buildings. Parking was horrible and vehicle was damaged by another hotel guest. Breakfast was limited and eggs were filled with water. The rooms are beautiful and beds were comfortable. Shuttle to Penn Station (NJ) only runs on the hour so waits we're long when coming and going from train station. I booked the reservation online on Best Western's website, which said best available rate $259.00 per night. I went to website two days later to download map to hotel and rates had dropped to $129 for the same room! It was too late to cancel reservation and rebook room. Manager did reduce rate to $159 at check in. I hope to add photos of the view from the room. You have to see it to believe it!

When i booked this hotel, i received no information about how the shuttle bus works (where to go for pick-up etc). Managed to figure out all the hotel shuttles go from P4 at EWR airport. I had read bad reviews on how slack the shuttle bus is and was a little bit worried, as i was arriving fairly late. Once i got to P4, i saw the shuttle bus just pull away and had to wait about another 20-25mins for it to come back round again. The driver was efficient and friendly. Once i got to the hotel itself, the staff seemed disinterested in checking me in, and more interested with what ever they were doing, they also seemed a bit abrupt and handed me the key card with no explanation on where the elevators were or where the room was. The room was very big, and quite an unusual shape. The room had modern furnishings in it, although looked a little bit worn in areas. The ensuite bathroom, was basically in a closet and had a very loud extractor fan it. The breakfast in the morning, was nothing fancy although i didn't eat much as i wasn't feeling hungry. On check-out the staff seemed a little bit more friendly and asked if i needed the shuttle back to the airport. Had to wait about 15mins for it. It dropped me off outside the terminal which was brilliant. Overall, i would recommend this hotel purely as it is clean and cheap. I wouldn't recommend staying here any longer than a couple of nights, as reviews have said previously it isn't in the nicest area (overlooks the prision one way) and industrial the other way.

Short stopover night but great value for a clean and modern looking hotel.

Checked out at 4:30am and they had an express complimentary breakfast - a few items but a great touch.

This hotel is located in an unattractive industrial area with no nearby facilities for residents. Unless you have a car you are reliant on the hotel's shuttle bus- more on that later. The hotel rooms are well equipped and of a decent size. Free WiFi is available. The breakfasts are good with reasonable variety, although the paper plates and plastic cutlery do nothing for the ambience. The room key card ceased to work on the second day; it was put right but with no explanation and no apology. The shuttle bus is very unreliable and will ensure that we never again use this hotel. On arrival at the airport we phoned the hotel and were told the bus would be within 20 minutes. Every other hotel's bus arrived, some twice, but it took more than half an hour before this one turned up. We paid 25USD to have the hotel bus take us on a round trip to the outlet mall, a 10 minute ride. Later when we called the hotel from the mall to arrange our return we were told "20 minutes", After half an hour we called again and they said "it's on its way", but it did not turn up for another 45 minutes. Again no explanation and no apology.

Free Shuttle to and from airport, rooms were clean and the hotel in general was quite nice.
Localitty not the best but if its overnight to connect to another flight it does not matter.
On site bar and resturant served good food and staff were very polite and helpfull.

My husband and I spent two nights here. My heart sank when we arrived--the exterior looked like a dump. The view from our room window was an empty lot. I think they are having staff problems because service was inefficient and barely adequate--the hotel limo runs every half hour, whether needed or not, and help at the front desk disappeared with no explanation. We had to eat the mediocre food served at the bar because the hotel is located in an industrial wasteland, no eateries anywhere near. At least, I can say that the room was clean and decent.
