This northern NJ restaurant continues to deliver a classy atmosphere and fine dining. New owners took over in 2013 but wisely or fortunately kept the top waiters and chef Filomeno(?). In a sea of Italian restaurants this is a standout. Service is very good, never in the way, always aware (Marco, Bennie?). Any previous reviews on poor service seem to have been written by a competitor! Though I will admit that regulars got a little extra attention from the owner and chef.
Standout starters this time was an Arugula, Braesola and Parmesan salad, light Gnocchi in a light tomato sauce. All the pastas are good, perfectly slightly al dente. Excellent main of very good veal in a masparpone sauce.
Happily, they still make the best Zabaglione with Strawberries and another of Crepes - both prepared tableside.
The restaurant is attractive and even when the bar got busy the noise in the restaurant area was imperceptible. Comfortable chairs, tables not crowded.
Perhaps a few more less expensive wines can be added.
A winner in all ways

The only negative thing I can say about this restaurant is that it is expensive. Everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Excellent Italian food is available everywhere in this area. The thing that sets this restaurant apart is the service. You walk in and they make you feel like royalty in true Italian fashion. My sister finished her wine and then accidently broke the glass. We brought the glass back to the bar and they apologized, said it was their fault, and immediately brought her another glass of wine. If I could afford it, I would eat there every night.

Hoped the new management would change things. Same food, same apathy on the service, and maybe not being honest with some

We were here about seven years ago and thought the food was very good. We heard there was some sort of ownership change. The place was packed, restaurant & bar. Friendly greeting and a nicely set table. Water filled constantly. Nice bread. Value priced. WE come from Fort Lee which used to have a lot of Italian restaurants; however, that has changed in recent years so we have to travel. We all loved the food! Appetizers of quick seared tuna over fresh greens with a touch of aged balsamic was delicious. The special I had of arctic cod marechiara was fabulous. Zabaglione was prepared table side and was delicious. Go!
Tip: Order a bottle of Frei chardonnay reserve. Excellent full bodied slightly oaken lush wine for about $34.- can't be beat. I had to tell the waiter to check the men's room: Hey Cenzino- police the restrooms every half hour!!!

We were first timers at Cenzino and came for a Saturday night dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. We arrived right on time for our reservation and were warmly welcomed and quickly seated. I'm stunned by some of the reviews of service because we found everyone to be helpful and attentive. The meal started with complimentary bruschetta and a small plate of cheese. Both were delicious and a nice way to start the dining experience while chatting over menu choices. The osso bucco with risotto was amazing. It's easy to understand why it is a signature dish of the restaurant. A special of swordfish and broccoli rabe was also excellent, as was the lobster ravioli. Make sure you leave room for dessert. Our waiter recommended the crème brule and I'm so happy he did, it was wonderful. Another member of our group had the bread pudding and proclaimed it the best he had ever had. Also want to mention that we were seated just around a bend from the bar yet our table felt private and the noise did not carry over. I will absolutely return to this restaurant.
