“Efficient, low cost, good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

We chose the Homestead Beach Hotel; #1 for the price and #2 for the location. We knew we would not spend much time in the room, and it was just my boyfriend and I for a long weekend. For us, it suited our needs perfectly. For a family over a week long vacation, it would not be the best choice, however.

We were in room 504, an efficiency with a double bed. Very cozy and clean. It came equipped with microwave, coffee pot, fridge/freeze, stovetop, and a variety of dishes/silverware. There was also a cute bistro, bar height, near a bay-type window, with a partial (very little) ocean view when seated on one side. The room's window faced south. There were two rooms, one with the bed, kitchen, closet, and bistro table, and the other with the bathroom. It' an efficiency so you don't expect too much, it's small, and you could tell the building was old, but everything was kept clean. Again, we were only there for two nights, and were not in the room much, so was great for us.

The building is still under construction from hurricane Sandy so there is scaffolding out front and construction when you enter the lobby, so it's not much to look at. Don't bring much luggage because the one elevator in the building is VERY tiny. We opted for the stairs even though we were on the 5th floor.

We turned the fridge on when we first arrived and it took about 5-6 hours to reach cold. Also no hairdryer in room. There was a window A/C unit which worked well for the space.

The location of the hotel is great, right on 8th street a block away from the beach/boardwalk in the thick of things, so that was a great highlight. The hotel does not have any of its own parking however so you will have to fend for yourself. We chose to park in a public overnight lot, just past the hotel on the left, for $20 for 24 hours. It was our best deal, close to the hotel, close to the beach, and we could leave it there the whole time and walk every where. We just had to remember to re-up after 24 hours.

The receptionist at the front desk was the manager as well. She was extremely hospitable and friendly.

Overall it was a great experience!

Room Tip: All rooms are different/unique in their own way. The hotel's website has a good description of e...

This place is a little gem! You are less than half a block from the beach right on 8th st which is in the heart of Ocean City!
You can park your car and not have to see it again until you are ready to head home. Everything you can possibly need is with-in a few minute walk.
Building is older, but in the process of renovating, rooms are on the smaller side but offer everything you need. Great for a couple and 1-2 kids
For the price and location its hard to find a better deal!

So close to everything and the room was adorable. Looking forward to returning! The view from Rm 510 is amazing, facing the ocean. Surrey rental was right next door as well as an Italian restaurant and great ice cream palor. Nice to have kitchen amenities available for some quick meals.

We stayed in unit 605 for a long weekend at the end of February to celebrate a late Valentine's Day. The unit is privately owned and hotel is very close to the boardwalk and beach. The room was very clean and newly updated with modern appliances. It was a very cozy and comfortable with awesome ocean view. We got lucky with the weather because its so happens that weekend was in the high 40's low 50's so we enjoyed walking on the boardwalk. The owner was very helpful and answered all questions promptly. Rates are reasonable and include beach tags in season.

Room Tip: Perfect for couples.

Great hotel for a get away in or out of the season. The hotel is in the process of being upgraded and the lobby is under construction. The view from Unit 605 is to die for panoramic views of the ocean from the 6th floor with an Ocean view from every window in the unit. The owner says the unit will be privately rented and redecorated and refurnished before the new season begins. Unit 605 will be a great place to stay for my wife and I throughout the years to come we have found our new home away from home.

Room Tip: The 6th floor facing the ocean will have great ocean views 605 have ocean views from every window in...

I am always fascinated by older hotels and the Homestead Hotel fits the bill. My visit was brief but very enjoyable for my wife and I. We went for a 3 day weekend and simply fell in love with the old world charm of a hotel built in 1929 but had a newly renovated room (#407) that had the original dresser & headboard from 1929. This room had a partial ocean view which was plenty for the small amount of time we actually spent in the room. This hotel is perfectly situated about a 1/2 a block from the beach & boardwalk.
Parking is a small problem but I drove two blocks away and found a spot for free and left my car there the entire time I was visiting. We love to walk and honestly there was no reason to get the car. We had our bikes and enjoyed biking the boardwalk each morning. We locked them up behind the hotel.....there is a bike rack there for just that purpose. When I was looking online at prices I was shocked at the pricing all around so I was glad when I found this hotel....older and less expensive but perfect for my needs.
If you are going to OCNJ I would recommend trying the Homestead and asking for room #407. It is big enough for two people and also has a nice fully stocked kitchen and a mini fridge to boot.

Room Tip: Ask for room #407 it is clean and updated.
