I've been a Jersey resident for most of my life, but somehow it took me 37 years to make it to OC. I've been to pretty much ever major beach spot in the state, but somehow missed this gem. I guess as you get older and have kids, you aren't as interested in visiting the more popular spots like the Wildwoods and Seaside just because now you realize how dirty and crowded those other places are. We visited on a a Wednesday in mid-July. The day didn't start out promising with overcast and a drizzle, but by noon, the clouds cleared and the sun came out. We we are able to park in the the muni lot at 6th street adjacent to the beach, all day for $10. I guess since the weather was lousy early, no one was selling beach badges, but I understand they are usually $5 for anyone over 11 (which is normal for Jersey beaches). The water was cold, and the crowds did get a bit larger as people realized the weather had tremendously improved, but it is a mostly family atmosphere. Lots of families with young children who appeared respectful of those around them. No over the top horseplay, no foul language, no trash on the beach and everyone listened to the lifeguards. Bathrooms are right off the beach and clean with attendants at each one. If this place wasn't so far from my home, I'd come here a lot more often, but even with the drive, it is definitely worth it.
