We make this our first stop for breakfast each year and again Fractured Prune did not disappoint. They start with fresh doughnuts and have an array of glazes and toppings to create whatever taste you'd like. We made this our last breakfast as well and were treated to a couple of extra doughnuts stuffed in the box.

This doughnut shop is a fun place with a unique offering, but it won't be on my must-visit list every time we head to Ocean City.

The place was hopping when we stopped Saturday morning after checking out of our rental house. The line moved steadily and the workers were pleasant but it takes a little time because the doughnuts are made and dipped to order. We also had no trouble finding a table outside to eat. I thought it was cute how they gave you a playing card to associate with your order rather than just a plain old order number.

However, if you are looking for what I call "cake doughnuts" like Dunkin' or my personal favorite Yum-Yum Donuts, you might find yourself disappointed. These are definitely hot, smaller, and kind of messy. Though they offer quite a few flavor combinations, our impression was that simple is best, like the OC Sand--honey dipped with cinnamon sugar. The kids meal served on a logo frisbee looked appealing (2 doughnuts, milk, frisbee) but didn't seem to be worth $7. We paid $7.69 for a half dozen this visit on 8/16/14.

Definitely an occasional vacation treat, but not a must-do despite the uniqueness and fun experience.

Fresh "made to order" donuts with diabetic coma inducing toppings. Decent egg sandwiches and wraps. Good coffee. Outdoor seating. Great find for a good priced breakfast in a resort town.

I've been here a few times and although it sounds great, here are the issues they have which can be addressed to allow this place deliver what is expected:
1. Overpriced- way too expensive for smaller than average donuts.
2. The donuts themselves - although made to order and served warm, they are greasy, very soft and fall apart when you try to pick them up... Along with the gooey toppings makes a complete mess so it is best to eat these at home so you can wash up OR eat them with a fork and knife.... But who wants to eat donuts with utensils???
3. There are so many varieties/flavors that it is overwhelming so it is best to get a menu in advance and know what you want before you go. Also, most of the offerings are very similar... e.g. The same except for one ingredient that may be missing or included to differentiate one from another.
4. Here is the big one - all of the offerings are simply plain donuts with different toppings and to be honest they do not have much flavor. As such, it is very difficult to distinguish one from the other which is a problem when trying to identify which ones to give to each family member based on what they ordered... Even after eating, you're still not sure it was the correct one, so it is kind of disappointing.
What they should do is have less choices and make actual donut flavors. In other words, instead of adding flavorless toppings to plain donuts, make each donut with the actual ingredients in the batter like every other place does.
5. Lastly, the customer flow is poorly laid out. You walk in to the counter/register where the girl is taking orders but the sign says to go to the other side of the counter but no one does, instead that is where everyone waits for their order and it is where the staff gives it to you so this is very confusing and disorganized.

If they are willing to address all of the above and rethink the product itself, it could be a great donut shop. Until then, nothing is drawing me back.

You have not had a proper donut until you've tried hot, made to order donuts from Fractured Prune! We go there every time we are in Ocean City! You can easily spot this restaurant by a crowd of people that is usually outside - waiting for their donuts. They are definitely worth the wait - hot, and delicious! DO yourself a favor and try a fracture prune donut next time you are in OC - you can thank me later;)
