“Nice place for the area.”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

This is what you expect from a Clarion. I stayed here with my kids because I knew this area and we didn't want to spend the money to stay in NYC. We took the train back and forth plus I had friends I wanted to visit in this area. The room was clean. The people were really friendly. The bathroom had some mildew on the grout. Nothing a little bleach wouldn't kill so that was a bit disappointing and the pillows weren't all that comfortable and very small for Queen bed. The pool was outside and cold. There are trees around so it wasn't as clean as it needed to be but then again the trees could add to that. We didn't swim. One day I asked the house keeping service to wait while we went to breakfast to clean. Turns out breakfast was over and the cleaning person was in the room. I asked her to leave so I could finish getting ready. However, I hope it was that she didn't hear me because she stayed in the room even though my things were obviously on the bed. I asked her again to let me shower and return. She agreed and we were out of the room in 15 minutes. It was strange to have someone clean the room so early 935. Other than that it was a good stay. Its by a strip mall with a Dunkin Donuts, Whole Foods and Staples. So if you don't want their breakfast or need some thing to eat you don't have far to walk. The fitness room was horrible. Good thing the river was close by (go toward the Princeton Country Club behind the hotel) to run on. I love that about this area. Close to the Princeton Junction Train station and Princeton. Over all, I got what I paid for. Some rooms opened to the outside. Our opened to a hallway with windows to the outside. Some rooms opened to the inside.

This hotel is located directly on US 1 outside of Princeton. It is part of the Clarion chain, which is supposed to be one of the upscale brands of Choice hotels. The property has two sides wings of rooms on either side of a pool area. There are not internal corridors; rooms are entered directly from outside walkways. Overall, the location is convenient. However, we were unhappy with several aspects of the stay and probably will stay elsewhere if visiting Princeton again. Our room was rather small, but it was well equipped with a safe, microwave, flat screen TV, etc. Some of the features of the room were not in good repair, such as the faucet of the sink and the shower curtain rod. Furthermore there was a very slow drip from the ceiling of the bathroom indicating a leak somewhere on the floor above. In addition, noises of people moving about in the room above could be heard. Breakfast was another disappointment. On two days of our stay it was moved from its usual location because of some private gathering. The result was a limited menu served in a less comfortable room. It is also fair to mention that when these matters were brought to the attention of the person at the front desk all that was offered was a grudging apology. However, when mentioned again during check out, the desk person on duty then provided a reasonable deduction from the bill to make up for it.

My daughter and I only stayed one night, but the place was very nice. I am picky and the bed was very comfortable. The front desk manager was really nice. The food was great. The choices included waffles, but we also had eggs, sausage, and potatoes. The coffee was really good too! I would stay there again!

Room Tip: Choose a room over looking the pool. These rooms are very nice.

We were invited to a "Brunch Wedding" in Hamilton NJ on 6-30-2013.
Having to board our Beagle with a family we know; we decided it would seem more advantageous to bring her to their home on Saturday, 6-29-2013, and go to the Clarion Palmer Inn in Princeton for an overnight stay. Less hectic than traveling early Sunday morning from our home in northern NJ. And that was the correct decision!
We had time to arrange a dinner with our No. 3 daughter and her boyfriend on Saturday evening as well this way. We were surprised when our oldest grandson came too, home from college at The Univ. of SD. The big surprise was that his brother arrived home that same day on leave from the United States Marine Corps and was also there for dinner with us.
This is supposed to be a review about the hotel!!!!
OK!!!
We arrived at the Clarion at about 2:30PM on 6-29-2013 and were greeted by a very nice gentleman who immediately got us into our room; No. 138, ground floor, steps from both a very nice pool and the parking area. This particular room had an outside door entrance. Other rooms have interior doors and second floor rooms, above ours, also had balconies. Nice!!!
We were surprised that the room was on two levels; one with a king sized bed and the lower level with a sleeper sofa, two end tables, a coffe table a refrigerator and a desk and chair. Free WIFI was availbe for our NetBook Computer. The bed was flanked by two end tables with lamps as well. There was a TV and dresser on that level too.
In the "back Section" of the room was a "One Burner" stove with a microwave and a small "kitchenette" cabinet with utensils and pots & pans. We didn't need these but it is worth pointing out to others who may consider the Clarion Palmer Inn. Adjacent to that was a safe, hanging rod with shelf and the sink area with a coffee maker and all the fixings to make a few cups of coffee. The toilet and tub were in a room of their own!
Here was our first small problem! The "Hookless" shower rod was partially pulled out of the wall on each end. We notified the desk clerk and two men showed up to do a repair. This lasted about 2 hours while we walked around an adjacent mall or sat on the couch watching them. When the "temporary" fix was completed we realized that they installed the rod backwards; curving into the tub instead of curving outward. I'm familiar with the "Hooklesss" rods & curtains and we just had a chuckle about that! We did have to place a bath towel over the desk chair in order to avoid sitting on stains and spots of unknown origins!
Overall our one night stay was OkK and we would definitely consider The Clarion Palmer Inn on another visit to that area of NJ, as should you!!!!

I can only assume this property was purchased for a renovation, that is yet to be done. We reserved a king room and were provided a queen (with management insisting the queen-size bed was really a king). The television CRT set was so filled with static as to be unwatchable. The furniture and bedding were extremely stained and worn with age. Most flat surfaces (desk, coffee table, cabinets) were sticky with apparently years of spilled substances. The courtyard garden was littered with cigarette butts and trash. The fitness center has one weight machine that works; and two treadmills, one bike, one elliptical, and one weight machine that are broken. Doors have to be kicked hard to be opened. The walls and ceiling are so thin, you constantly hear noise from other rooms. It may have been elegant in the past, but this Clarion is a dump now. The only redeeming feature is the PURE Restaurant attached to the hotel. It is elegant, stylish, and exceptionally good (if fairly expensive).

Room Tip: Best choice would be at another property.

Needed a place for a week, was in the process of relocating for another job and was on a tight budget! Staff was very friendly, room cleaning was on point every day. Forgot a bag, didn't even realize it until I get a phone call from the general manager asking me if it belonged to me. They went that extra mile and packaged it to ship to me. Thanks!

Whole foods being next door was a plus, and they've got a restaurant and bar attached, nice touch.

For the Value (considering the amount I was paying) and the length of time I stayed, the friendly staff and the hotel exceeded my expectations. Thank You.

Great location for business in Princeton/Lawrenceville area. Best part of the hotel is that you can walk (literally next door) to the Marshalls and Whole Foods! One thing to note about the hotel is that it was very clean but be aware that the rooms facing the pool are all courtyard facing (anyone walking by can see inside your room if windows open) and there was easy access for non-guests to enter into this courtyard area. Felt safe overall - but as a solo female traveler this gave me a little pause.
