“Sufficient for NYC”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2014

+ Good location next to NJ Transit bus station
+ Free parking
+ Free Internet
+ Free Breakfast
- On holiday weekends the Breakfast line can get long; reminded me of my Army Mess Hall days
+ Staff is very friendly and will answer any questions
+ Rooms are huge and beds are comfortable

Room Tip: - Try to get a room on the back of the hotel and not near the elevator (which is center)

We used this Hyatt Place as our base for a family trip to New York City. The reviews here were spot-on: there is a NJT bus across the street with a kiosk to buy tickets. The bus ride is 15 minutes to Port Authority in Manhattan. The bus comes every 15 minutes or so -- super convenient. Why pay for parking in the city? The staff was super helpful in helping us NYC-newbies to get around.

The room was spacious and well-maintained. And clean! Only one TV for a big room, but that wasn't a big deal for us.

The only minor nit is that he breakfast wasn't that great -- actually the sausage wasn't bad and the oatmeal was quite good, but the eggs and potatoes were mediocre. But that isn't the end of the world when NYC is 15 minutes away. And the parking is weird -- few spots in the front, and then you go to the parking garage next to it.

I'd stay here again and would recommend it to anyone needing or wanting to visit NYC!

Let me say this is the place to stay for commuting to NYC. All you have to do is go out the hotel walk across the street and buy your bus pass and it takes you to the port authority in NYC. From there you can catch the subway, all day bus tours or just walk to wherever you want. It was a short drive to catch the ferry to get to the Statue of Liberty. The ferry is not over crowded like the ones coming from NYC. There are many places to eat within walking distance. Our room was clean, quiet and fit our needs for our stay in the area. The bed was just right for me, not to hard and not to soft. The breakfast is a little above your normal hotel breakfast. The staff was very nice and helpful. The only thing I can complain about is the parking. You have to park on the third story parking lot which means you have to go to the second floor of the hotel walk through the tunnel then walk up the stairs to get to the third flood. Parking should be on second story of the parking lot. Will stay here again when we travel back that way.

I am currently staying here for two weeks and it's been good thus far.

The rooms are modern, spacious and always clean. I've stayed in this area many times but it's my first at this hotel and I will surely return.

The parking is somewhat inconvenient, there are a handful of parking spots at the front of the hotel and the only alternative is the their floor parking next door.

The plus is the bar and mini "bistro" at the lobby... Great salads and wraps 24/7!!

The gym is small but it gets the job done... At least it's clean and there are fresh towels all the time.

There is no guest laundry so be prepared to find a laundromat.

From a family of 4 perspective, staying in Secaucus was a smart choice when visiting NYC. Having been to NY many times before as a couple or individual, staying in the city was fine. With a family and all the gear, the larger rooms of the Hyatt Place was much appreciated, and very comfortable and affordable. Hotel rooms in the city are notoriously small and expensive so definitely use New Jersey as a home base. From the Hyatt, the bus to the city was right outside the door. Buy the round trip tickets so you don't have to search for a kiosk at the port authority when you are returning. The tickets are inexpensive and saves you the headaches of the tunnel and parking in the city. Leave your car at the hotel, the parking is included with the room. Since we were there with younger children we were back at the hotel fairly early so I don't know how late the buses run but I imagine they run pretty late in a city that never sleeps. Navigation of the port authority is an experience, but once you get the lay of the land you will be fine. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, with lots of good advice and discount books to help with coupons and deals. There is a Costco within walking distance for snacks and necessities. The hotel is clean, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious with good televisions and amenities, the parking is patrolled, and we were able to leave our car there for the week while we left on a cruise. The experience was a positive one and I will definitely be back.

We love having families stay with us and we totally agree that our hotel is fabulous for visitors looking to tour NYC. The last bus run out of Manhattan to our hotel is at 2 a.m. so for those who love to see the city at night, the transportation is readily available. Glad you mentioned the free parking because for the area, parking and transportation could be a huge expense and we take care of that for you. Hope you get to come back to stay with us again and we appreciate your sharing your Hyatt experience here on Trip Advisor. Best regards, Karen

This is my go to place for traveling to NYC. The hotel is clean, modern, comfortable.
Check in: always an easy process and never a long wait.
Rooms: The beds are comfortable (probably the best hotel bed I have ever stayed in) and the rooms are big and well equipped. Great having the sink area separate from the shower/toilet area. Multiple people can get ready at the same time.
Breakfast: Nothing over the top, but always full when I leave. Great way to start off the day.

NYC: The 320 bus is super easy and takes you right into Times Square, Runs frequently.

Location: Really close to the highway but in a great shopping/dining area. If you don't want to spend $25 for a burger in NYC, there are many places to eat/drink around this hotel.
Free parking is also a huge perk!

This hotel would be great for any group (families, couples, friends, solo)

Room Tip: the elevators aren't a far walk from any room, request a room away from the elevators for sleepi...

We stayed for a visit in New York, 2 nights, 2 adults and 2 teens. Everything was great! The clerks were genuinely nice, full of advise and gave clear instructions for using the city buses into New York. The bus stop is right across from the hotel and is 8$ to and back from New York.

2 double beds with a big corner couch, which opens up, great for kids or teens. The room is quite big and there's also a flat screen tv. Everything was CLEAN.

Breakfast is included and is différent every morning. The breakfast sandwichs were not so great, but the rest was fine. Lots of choices, cereals, fruits, juices, baguels, toasts, pastries and the hot skillet breakfast.

Parking is also included.

For the price I would recommend this hotel for sure!
