We love the BREAKERS!!! We have been going there for the past 5-6 years and thoroughly enjoy it. We started to go there when our daughter began working in NYC and able to take off work and meet with us ~ We generally go to the Breakers twice a year...beginning and end of summer. It is close to everything including shops and with lovely restaurants close by as well as the Breakers itself. The Boardwalk is right there in front of the Breakers and a beautiful walk and ocean vew is just gorgeous as well as a beautiful wrap around porch to sit and look at the view. Anyway, you cannot miss by going here on vacation or just a great weekend!!

Room Tip: We love the ocean front rooms....beautiful to watch the ocean!

The Breakers is a great family facility with very nice and professional staff, good food, relaxing pool area and, of course, the Atlantic ocean!!! Our children know their way around an make full use of the facility. A drink in the later afternoon on the porch facing the ocean is a great way to complete a great day.

Room Tip: We have only had good rooms at each stay and there have been many,

We stayed for several nights at the Breakers this summer. The hotel itself is just OK for the price. It is a very unattractive building from the outside other than its very comfortable wrap-around porch overlooking the ocean. The hotel is directly across Ocean Ave. from the Atlantic Ocean so the front-facing picture window in our room offered a magnificent view especially at sunrise. The room was quite small and the bathroom window would not close so it was constantly humid there. The beds were especially comfortable and clean. Breakfast, not included, was pricey. $3 for a small glass of orange juice? Come on. However, the wait staff was great. Very accommodating and friendly. The front desk staff, not so much. The hotel itself is tired looking despite efforts to spruce it up via some outstanding floral arrangements in public spaces. It was a good experience overall, but breakfast should have been included for the price.

Room Tip: Any room facing the ocean offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean but you'll pay more for...

This was my first stay at The Breakers. My friend has been staying there for years. The rooms are nicely appointed. There is a good size refrigerator in each room, along with a safe. Our room was in the back of the hotel, but we still had an ocean view. The pool is not big, but very clean and quite warm. There are plenty of lounge chairs and tables to eat at. The parking is unusual, you can not park on the street from 3 Am - 6 AM, unless you can find parking along the beach. The beach is so nice. The waves however were so big we were not able to go in past our knees. It was fun to watch the surfers. The only downside was there were so many weddings that the beautiful wrap around porch was closed at various times for private receptions. September was a perfect time to go to The Breakers!

Great location. Nice size rooms, across the street from the beach. Friendly staff. It was fun to stay in an actual hotel instead of a Bed and Breakfast in Spring Lake. Prime location. Easy taxi ride to bars, restaurants etc.

We had a wonderful stay at The Breakers. We were there for Labor Day with our 3 year old granddaughter; the weather did not cooperate while we were there but the HUGH porch and considerate staff made the stay memorable. It rained every day we were there, but the staff at the front desk was great and all of the staff were extremely considerate of a 3 year old trapped inside. The front desk staff gave us children’s movies to watch and everyone went out of their way to be accommodating of an antsy child. We had our dinner indoors and moved out to the porch for dessert so the little one could run and play. She LOVED the orange sorbet served in the orange peel in the piano bar where the pianist played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and The Muppet Song for her; it was a very nice touch. The view of the ocean from the porch was spectacular. The hotel was charming and the people we met at the hotel were all very nice. The majority of the guests were either older or young families. Our granddaughter had children she could play with on the porch and at the pool. I would recommend The Breakers for families (it’s right on the beach and has a pool) and romantic getaways. Spring Lake is a beautiful city, lots of historical charm and it was easy to get around. We loved it, next time I want to bring my mother-in-law and sisters for a girl’s weekend.

Booked last-minute labor day weekend getaway with wife and almost 2 year old. A little apprehension about Jersey Shore and this hotel in particular (worried about size of rooms, cleanliness, etc.) Trip exceeded expectation in both regards. First, Spring Lake is a wonderful town with a very nice beach, and no "Jersey Shore" crowd. Rooms size was more than adequate, and, most importantly, impeccably clean. Maid service of quick and efficient. Location could not be better. We would absolutely return. Very easy trip from NYC (about 60 miles), and centrally located for quick trips to Pt Pleasant, etc. Cocktail service on the porch during the evenings looked fantastic, although we did not get to partake because of the little one.

We did have a few complaints, but overall did not distract from a nice hotel.

1. Parking - the lack of a parking lot is an annoyance. It was labor day weekend, the situation was not as the front desk described (everyone leaves the beach at 6 and all the spaces open up). A minor annoyance, but we rarely got a space without driving around, dropping off and circling back, etc. (and not just the beach-facing overnight spots).

2. Staff - front desk staff was nice (we arrived early and then checked us in and then called 90 minutes before official check-in time to say we could pick up our keys), but generally I was disappointed by the friendliness of the rest of the staff - particularly with the restaurant managers. We saw three different ones at breakfast, and none seemed particularly happy to be there. On Saturday morning we came down early (mostly families at that hour), said "good morning" and asked for 2 plus a high chair, and were seated without a word of acknowledgment. She just looked down, picked up menus and deposited them on the table we were assigned. That seemed typical of the attitude each morning, which I found surprising.

3. Four-night minimum - we were required to pay for 4 nights (Fri-Monday), which is absurd. If you want to charge a premium for holiday weekends do so, but don't do it under the guise of a minimum number of nights, especially when the last night - the monday of labor day weekend) is officially the "low season" rate. Also, judging by the people who checked out on Sunday, this rule was inconsistently applied or a lot of people (like us) just ate the cost of the last night. Also, we booked on Tuesday or Wednesday of the week we arrived. Insisting on the minimum that close in time to arrival seemed like an additional level of absurdity.

4. Pool - Kind of expected this from pictures, but pool area is actually quite small. Well staffed, but they did not control access. Noticed a few non-guests coming in from street (know they were non-guest b/c we heard them discussing their hotel). Again, a minor annoyance given the limited size of the pool area. Bigger concern was that the get does not automatically lock, and more than once I noticed it open after people came through and did not shut fully. A safety issue with the large number of children by the pool.

Room Tip: Deluxe King (third floor) has nice view of beach/ocean. Also, small foyer is big enough for crib/pa...
