Rooms have not been updated in years. Carpets are pink, bedspreads are back in the 50's. Rooms are small. Employees are non accommadating. Not worth the money. If they didn't have my money I would not stay their. They get you when they want one day paid in advance. No place to park. Stay at your own risk.

My husband & I stayed at this hotel for 5 days. The food was fantastic & the service was great. The dining room is pretty.
We enjoyed our stay. It also has a pool. The rooms are clean and inviting.
It's across from the boardwalk & ocean. We would go back.

After having made several day trips to the Spring Lake area and walking past the Breakers many times, my wife and I decided last-minute to spend a night there. When we called to make the reservation, we were told just show-up and chances are our room would be upgraded. (It was a Friday night in the winter!) Upon arriving and being greeted by the very friendly front-desk staff, we were given a great upgrade! We only paid $100 (which is the lowest, off-season price) but were given a room with a king-sized bed, sofa, whirlpool, and a perfect view of the ocean. It was wonderful!! They were closed for dinner, but breakfast in the morning was excellent. Maybe a bit pricey, but the food was fresh and service was fast.

Anyone looking for a perfect little getaway I think will be very happy at the Breakers!

We recently spent 3 days during the week in mid-September at this charming hotel. Our room on the third floor, although small, had a lovely ocean view. Sitting on the first floor wrap-around porch during the day or in the evening was delightful. We had room service for breakfast - very quick service! Lunch in the restaurant was a pleasure. We found the hotel staff attentive and pleasant. Shopping in the quaint little town was great fun, too. We would definitely return for a lovely, restful mid-week autumn diversion.

We stayed at this expensive catering hall for a long holiday weekend. Our room had a great ocean view and every night when the Breakers becomes somebody elses wedding - the place became noisy, crowded and downright unbearable. During the day we were pushed off the lovely porch by all the different party guests who left empty glasses and cigerette butts for my kids to play with. Also the front desk staff was pretty rude - I wanted to check out early due to all the noise and activity and those girls were just awful to deal with. I'll go back to wonderful Spring Lake but never to this overpriced ripp -off.

We stayed at the Breakers for three nights in August. I was nervous prior to arriving because of the bad reviews I had read and because of the curt employees on the telephone. We were required to pay by check in full within 10 days of making the reservation. Since I was told that they do not send a confirmation, I enclosed a stamped self-addressed envelope. They sent a confirmation with the dates of my arrival and the amount that I had paid, and nothing else about what I had paid for! And not even "paid in full"!

When we arrived, I found the town is gorgeous, and the hotel is very nice outside. Our room also was a very pleasant surprise! It was oceanfront with a beautiful view of the pool, beach and boardwalk (across the street), easily large enough for our family (5 adults), and with a huge luxurious modern bathroom with whirlpool tub. We had a refrigerator and a table with chairs in front of the large bay window. The employees were accomodating for all our requests and the food was very good in the restaurant. The only minor problems were no disability bars in the bathroom for the elderly members of our group and the pool was not heated as was advertised. There was on-street parking which was never a problem and an elevator. As others have noted the price was steep, but we would definately go back again. We are thinking of making it a yearly event!

We spent the weekend in Spring Lake and found the town to be just lovely. The Breakers Hotel, however, was absolutely awful. Apart from a prime location and attractive veranda, the hotel is a complete disappointment.

There are times when a hotel room is just not in synch with our preferences or personal style. In this case, the extreme dilapidation and false claims regarding an ocean view indicated a real lack of business ethics. You simply do not charge someone $170 to sleep in a room with broken mis-matched furniture, stained doors and walls, a pink rug and a bed so hard and lumpy that I elected to sleep on the sofa. The bathroom had a large whirlpool tub but it was very old and there was only a tiny mirror. And we had to laugh at the sparse, low-end amenities.

We telephoned the desk the moment that we entered our room (carrying our own bags as there was no bellman) asking if there were some mistake. The differential off season between an ocean view room and a town view room is $40 and we did not see the ocean unless we opened a window (in February) and stuck our heads out. The desk clerk was rude and hostile, most likely because he hasn't heard a happy comment from guests in many many years.

Suffice to say that we will never return to this hotel. It's a dump.

But we do recommend Spring Lake enthusiastically, particularly Black Trumpet and excellent BYOB on Atlantic Avenue. Brilliant food and a lovely atmosphere!
