“Good location, mediocre hotel”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel for a long weekend in July. The pictures on the hotel website of the parlor we thought we were getting were very deceiving - we thought the room would be much bigger - it turned out the sleeper sofa was just directly next to the bed, rather than in its own room. The room was clean and furnishings were nice, but the room was very dark, and looked more like a hotel room in a city - there was nothing "beachy" about it at all.

The staff was very nice, but we were put off upon arrival by a new staff member who spent 10 minutes talking to another hotel patron about his line of work before acknowledging our presence and checking us in.

While it is walk-able to the beach (and a lovely one at that - right past the lake), it is a good 15-20 minutes, so if you are looking for an easy on, easy off beach scenario this is not for you.

We won't come back here. For the amount we paid, we could've stayed in a much nicer hotel on the beach in Long Branch.

My husband & I decided to do a Monday to Friday getaway to the Jersey Shore. We are used to upscale accommodations so a regular seaside motel wouldn't do. The Chateau was a lovely Inn/B&B type property. We had a classic suite, it was rather tight, but had all the necessary amenities, separate rooms for sleeping & relaxing/TV watching. My only issue was the choice of the very dark colors for carpeting & bedspread, chocolate brown. Upon entering the suite, we were faced with a view of the king bed covered in a heavy brown bedspread which made the room appear dark and not inviting. The first thing I did was remove the bedspread & stow it in the closet. The blanket on the bed was a light vanilla color & immediately brightened up the room. The breakfast & common area were clean & well furnished with antique furniture. The breakfast offered a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, fruit & nut mixes, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, assorted pastries + the usual beverages. The staff is very professional while being warm & friendly. April & Bob were especially helpful as well as the brother & sister team in charge of the breakfast area. I'm hoping that by this time Bob has a recycling program in place to make this property "greener." The grounds are nicely landscaped & manicured. The guests were a mixed bag, couples, families, a group of gals on a ladies weekend. Altogether a very pleasant mix. This is a nice property with old seaside inn charm. It is tough working within the constraints of an older existing property, to transform it into a place with modern amenities. This inn achieved it quite nicely. My one suggestion...lose the brown decor.

Room Tip: We were in suite # 4, on a main road next to the firehouse. We thought that it would be a problem wi...

We visited during October 2013. As a result we did not experience the noise next door problem that others have mentioned but I could see that happening. We lucked out. Rooms with very nice with fireplace (they gave us a duraflame log). I would go back Spring lake is a very nice town. Also, parking in the lot is very limited first come first serve. Cool liquor store and deli shop a block away

The Chateau Inn was a very pleasant place to stay. We stayed in "The Classic Parlor" the room was very clean, had plenty of towels, and looked just like the photos just alittle smaller than we thought. There were some things that we wished were better, one woukd be the parking, we had to park in the train station everyday we were there. Two, would be the internet was intermitient. Three, the continetal breakfast should be included, although the coffee, tea etc...were there for our taking. And last but not a horrible thing, and although they offer free coffee, having a coffee pot in our room would have been terrific. The Aveda were very nice touch!

Room Tip: We stayed in a seperate building with just five larger than the other 60 rooms in the inn. In readi...

This place is so overrated and overpriced, it's laughable. This is a motel, not a hotel, with damask wallpaper, so the philistines think it's somehow luxurious! BUT the walls are paper thin and we were awakened at 6am on a Saturday due to the noise from the kids in the next room. When we called the front desk, they were doubtful, saying they've never had a complaint about noise before! How dare she! We called back when the noise persisted, and the manager Robert basically told us the same thing. Rude, with zero regard for clients.
Spring lake is a beautiful town and has many lovely inns. Please DON'T STAY at this dump of a motel.

Stayed at the Chateau Inn for 3 nights over the July 4th weekend. The Inn is located on the the other side of the lake. You can walk to the beach but it would be a long walk and not too comfortable if you are carrying beach items. The hotel is very cute and clean. The common area where breakfast is served is very nice. The continental breakfast was delicious and the all day coffee/ iced tea service was a very nice touch. The rooms are renovated so the beds are comfy, bathrooms are clean, flat screen tvs and the rooms do not smell musty! My family and I will definitely be returning.

My wife and I found this place through a groupon offer. After checking it out online and an easy reservation, we arrived at the "Inn and Suites".
Located on a quiet extremely well kept nieghborhood across from a beautiful park with a lake and walking paths. Just a few blocks to the beach.
The room we booked was a standard room. Well decorated, nice furniture but small. The bathroom had nice updates but also small.
Included in our stay was a free bike rental, it was a great way to explore the neighborhood and boardwalk/beach.
Great continental breakfast was included with a large assortment of cereals and pastries but nothing hot.
In summary: Cute place, great location, and a good value. We really enjoyed our time there.
