“Lovely B&B with great hosts”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2012

We stayed 2 nights at this lovely B&B. Room was spacious and hosts were very welcoming without being omnipresent. It's in a quiet area of the town and about 30 mins drive from the Delaware Water Gap Recreational Area, where we completed a great hike along the Appalachian Trail. If we were ever in the area again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay and would definitely recommend.

We're a couple in our late 20's/early 30's without children.

Whistling Swan Inn is our first consideration when we stay in the area with an open schedule. We used to live nearby, and have found the Inn to provide consistently good service, clean rooms, appetizing breakfast, extra goodies in one of several public rooms on the first floor, and enjoyable conversation with the owners. Our last stay was in April, and even though the owner is "new" the standards remain high.

Room Tip: No pool or fitness center. For the neighborhood of stately homes and shade trees, I doubt there'...

We were just passing through NJ, but were glad we went out of our way a bit to stay here. Our hostess was very welcoming and the inn is lovely. A few nice touches include: sherry and snacks, great veranda, quiet neighborhood (despite being on Main Street), near the serene Morris Canal for a lovely stroll, rooms with a TV and DVD player, with a great library of DVDs on the 2nd floor landing. Coffee comes out early in the morning, and for dinner there are good restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was delicious - I loved the oatmeal pancakes. The only thing we would change is the somewhat lumpy mattress (Great Meadows room), but everything else was fine.

We have just come back from one of the most relaxing stays ever at the Whistling Swan Inn in Stanhope, NJ. We found the Inn charming and welcoming. The hosts, Roz and Tom were so warm and inviting and were very attentive to make sure our stay was comfortable and relaxing. We stayed in the Harmony Suite which was amazing. We felt so comfortable and just did not want to leave. We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone who needs to just get away and destress. The breakfast was so delicious and the snack that was put out during the day was wonderful. There are places to eat for lunch and dinner within walking distance and even more just a short drive away. We drove on Saturday to a winery which was about 15 minutes away and brought a sandwich to share and had a bottle of wine on their deck. The whole weekend was perfect and there are not enough good words to say about this getaway.

Room Tip: We loved the Harmony Suite but we peeked into the Walnut Valley suite...even more beautiful if that...

I am writing this on behalf of my spouse who recently stayed at the Whistling Swan for business. Rather than booking him into one of the nearby chain hotel out on the Interstate, I thought he might find the Whistling Swan more restful and personalized. As it turns out, it defied our expectations. The inn is clean, well-maintained and quiet. He required breakfast a bit earlier than the scheduled time but, just as per their website, he asked in advance and a nice hot breakfast sandwich, coffee and juice awaited him the following morning. The inn, as well as Stanhope itself, is very close to Manhattan and the northeast counties of New Jersey yet it's a world apart. We would highly recommend it for a weekend getaway.

Me and my new wife loved our stay. The innkeepers take pride in their job and you can tell that they love what they do. The inn is unkept very well. Rooms are updated. It feel like a home and the people are very nice and welcoming. The only thing I would say was an issue is that there was not much of a selection of breakfast food. However.... What they did have was delicious. My wife and myself were very happy with service and will return and recommend to EVERYONE. It is Very clean... Has great old charm. Very warm and cozy. Snacks for you pleasure were complimentary and delicious as well! Go and visit!!!

Thanks so much!
