On a terribly rainy march 30 we had my daughters bridal shower at the swan.Despite the awful rain and wind everthing was perfect the room was set up with the flowers we requested the mimosas flowed and the food was great. Roz and her staff were fantastic and made it an occasion to remember.. Furniture was moved quickly to help older guests so they missed nothing and were included in the gift unwrapping and cake cutting..Again thank you roz and staff for a wonderful event in our lives

I'm so pleased that everyone enjoyed the shower. Your guests were lovely and most appreciative of the staff's efforts. Thank you for your kind words; the staff works hard to ensure that the event is one the guest of honor will remember for a lifetime.

Based on advice of others on here, chose this as a nearby (about 30 miles) getaway spot. Beautifully, genuinely decorated large home with nice rooms with all the trimmings. Breakfast was tasty and fresh. Very clean and well-maintained and hosts are very pleasant. Nice touch is that a few good restaurants and bars are within walking distance, and that was a big plus as most suburban nights out involve a designated driver or tea-totaling. Would definitely recommend if you're staying in the area vs. a chain hotel, or want to steal away for a bit, for a change of pace. Glad we found it and thanks to the TripAdvisor community for reviews!

Of all the places someone could stay in the WORLD!!!!!!.The choice my wife and I made to stay at the Whistling Swan Inn was the best decision we have ever made other than having our beautiful children. The decor was flawless, the room ( The Highpoint Suite ) was excellent.Nothing bad to say,From the Homemade chocolate covered strawberries ,made by none other than Rosalind Bruno ,The owner. Our morning conversation with Rosalind over breakfast was like talking to family. Our suggestion to everyone who reads this review is tell all your friends ,family members and even people you don't like.Go there !!!. I could write a book about this place. But don't have a life time to do so.
Our only complaint was that we had to leave.
We will be back Tom and Rosalind.
Thank you,
Kevin and Lisa.

The Whistling Swan is a beautiful bed and breakfast that features all the gorgeous woodwork, details, nooks and crannies, and little hidden architectural secrets a B&B Aficionado comes to expect. The new owners have taken the long-time B&B and expanded on a gorgeous piece of property and are continually improving the rooms, lawns and gardens.

We were there for a wedding and while the location was a drive from the event site, it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the days leading up to the wedding and have a chance to relax.

One the most memorable features of this Grand Duchess B&B is her wrap-around porch which is deep, wide and literally wraps around both sides of the house. There's a hammock on which to swing, plenty of comfortable padded rattan chairs to sit around in and relax. We were there in September which gave us the perfect opportunity weather wise to really experience the fun of the porch!

Another nice feature of this B&B is the "Snack Station" which is kept open all day. You have options which include coffee, juice, soda, plus plenty of great snacks (none healthy!) and homemade cookies, which I thought was a nice touch.

Stanhope does not have a huge inventory of restaurants nearby, but in the downtown area there are a few sandwich shops where you can pick up a decent enough lunch or light dinner food to take back to the B&B. For higher quality restaurants, you'll need to do some driving.

The owners were pleasant enough -- we didn't interact much with them, but they appeared to be hard workers with a desire to build a solid business with their new B&B.

I agree with other reviewers, the prices were slightly high, but when you factor in the on-going snacks and drinks plus the overall atmosphere, it's worth treating yourself. It's a great house to experience!

Room Tip: Our party stayed in the following three rooms: Great Meadows Room, Waterloo Village Room and Harmony...

Little pricey but great fun for a special occasion. Stayed in the Walnut Room with jacuzzi. Clean, beautiful and spacious. Roz is wonderful and the breakfast is worth the trip. Would probably stay in the next room category down but was not available the night we went. Would like to return again and explore the area.

We had a great time. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! the atmosphere was amazing and the breakfast was delicious. there are many different types of rooms to choose from and huge array of DVD's. We stayed in the Stillwater Suite and slept in the most comfy bed ever! The sitting room in the parlor was well stocked with snacks and drinks. Can't wait to go back in the spring and enjoy the wrap around porch and the beauty the town has to offer.

This was our second time at The Whistling Swan and once again it was absolutely magical. We stayed here last March for our 20th anniversary and fell in love with the romantic charm that is in every detail here. Walking in the front door of The Swan transports you to another time and place - serene and peaceful. The common area on the first level is delightfully welcoming, from the fresh baked cookies to the array of teas and coffee to the crystal decanter of sherry! For those who cannot leave the modern world at the door- there is WiFi and desktop computer available. Each room at the Swan has its own unique design and character but we prefer the suites- The High Point, last year - The Harmony, most recently. Both have jacuzzis and fireplaces - a must for us! An unexpected surprise for us last year and one of the reasons we came back - The Stanhope House just down the road ( easy walking distance). One of the last GREAT roadhouses - absolutely Phenomonal Blues on Tuesday nights which happened to be the nights we stayed. For a romantic getaway with a little blues and soul just down the road, the Whistling Swan cannot be beat! Wish I could give it more than 5 stars!

Room Tip: Go for the suites- truly awesome!
