“Rustic Charm in Peaceful Setting...”
Reviewed 1 January 2013

The inn is conveniently located to New Hope and Lambertville, but yet feels far away in a quiet rural setting of rolling meadows. We enjoyed our "sojourn" in the lofted cottage room. It felt very private, comfortable and was nicely furnished. We enjoyed reading in front of the fireplace and soaking in the huge tub in the lofted area. Having the bathroom upstairs was a bit inconvenient during the night, but there was plenty of dimmable lighting to create a safe passage. The little private porch would have been so nice on a warmer day. Our breakfast was brought to our cottage and had everything just as we had requested. We enjoyed the eggs, delicious bacon and moist, fresh blueberry muffins. The staff members we saw were friendly and pleasant. Overall, a very enjoyable romantic experience.

Room Tip: Having the only bathroom be upstairs from the bedroom area may be an issue for some.

this is an outstanding b&b located in Stockton nj which is 3 mi away from new hope pa and lambertville nj. these locations teem with restaurants, theatre and nightlife.
even out on the country roads that surround stockton are many tiny towns that host great restaurants. go with an appetite and cruise around the beautiful country side.
the inn is a gem. many beautifully decorated rooms in the manor house and in cottages surrounding it. the breakfast are created to please and they do the job very well.
the staff is great friendly and helpfull.
enjoy this inn it sets a standard to be met by all b&bs.

Room Tip: try to plan your trip on an off season or non-holiday as the streets and roads and all else overflow...

There could be a more wonderful place than the Woolverton Inn, but we won't be looking for it anytime soon.

We chose the Woolverton Inn for our 21st anniversary, the first time we have traveled without our children since our honeymoon (which was a four-state New England Country Inn tour). From the minute the Inn came into view, we knew we had struck gold. For so many reasons, it was important to get this night right. Simply saying we got it right is like calling a Lamborghini "just a car" or the Pope "just a priest".

The grounds, the Inn, the ammenities, our room - Stockton's Hideaway, so cozy and impeccably appointed, a window seat my wife was able to take a nap in - just incredible! Everything somehow exceeded our very lofty hopes and expectations. The charm and character of the Manor House, the picturesque storybook grounds, the bountiful, delicious, and beautifully presented breakfast on the patio on a crisp October morning - we could not have scripted it as well as it actually turned out!

A special thank you to Bob and the staff (unfortunately, we did not get to met Carolyn). Perfectly welcoming, attentive and helpful, yet in the background so as not to overshadow the experience. Lisa took the time to make our dinner reservation and make sure everything was right with our room. We had hoped to make it a weekend stay, but they were booked solid for a wedding they were hosting on Sunday. Bob went out of his way to offer us the opportunity to stay on the grounds and enjoy the inn for the remainder of the day following our checkout. That may not have seemed like a big gesture to him but, to us, it was just one more example of why we believe the Woolverton Inn is above and beyond any compliment we can offer.

Room Tip: Stockton's Hideaway is, indeed, a romantic hideaway. Perfectly appointed with a beautiful jacuz...

Woolverton Inn is Amazing. My Husband and I just returned from celebrating our first anniversary and we could not have picked and more perfect location. We were lucky enough to experience two different rooms during our stay and both were stunning. We started off in the Letitia's Suite which was a charming room in the main house. As this was our first adventure into the bed and breakfast world it was a perfect choice. We then moved into the Sojourn loft which was beyond fabulous, a private cottage on the property. Each room was equipped with a working gas fireplace, comfy sitting area and whirlpool tubs large enough to fit my 6'3 husband, very romantic! Each bed had a featherbed topper, that combined with the peace and quiet helped us get the best nights sleep we've had in a long long time

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They helped us find activities durning the clear falls days, as well as the rainy ones, making recommendations on cheese markets, shopping and sites to see. Breakfast was different and delicious every morning, accompanied by freshly squeezed oj. There were always yummy afternoon snacks and coffee and tea all day long. We were able to enjoy a bike ride on the bike paths that run along the Delaware river, a stroll through Washington's Crossing and some shopping in New Hope and Lambertville. There were a few flea markets which the inn keepers pointed out to us where we were able to experience some Amish specialties and wonderful art.

Overall the trip was wonderful, romantic and everything we dreamed it would be. We can't wait to return next year!

My husband and I just returned from our 5-Year Anniversary weekend away at the Woolverton. We stayed in the same room we stayed in when we were married - Amelia's Suite, a lush deep crimson and gold room, reminiscent of Lady Mary Crawley's room on Downton Abbey. What more can you say about a crystal chandelier dimmed at dusk, hanging over a hot whirlpool bath, while you drink wine and peer out at sheep grazing on the meadow with a roaring fire in the next room? The suite is sublime, only 3 complaints: 1) the pillows are hypoallergenic feather and they sink under your head in two seconds, they roll into little rocks and you wake with a sore neck; 2) be warned it is an old stone house and sound travels; 3) the double-shower has 2 different kinds of showerheads - one of which is too low and the other gets much lower water pressure than the other.

Wonderful amenities like Aveda bath products and the NY Times delivered to you door. The breakfasts got us through to dinner, they were so filling. Fresh squeezed OJ, soft, cheesy frittatas, moist scones, fluffy eggs, cake-like pumpkin pancakes, etc. The coffee/tea station is classy, well-stocked, and available 24/7. Their afternoon double-chocolate chip cookies were soft, chewy, perfect fantasies.

All this said, I do think they're asking too much for the room. I know it's peak season out there, but over $400 per night is a lot for a bed and breakfast in Stockton NJ. The Widow McCrea House in Frenchtown has similar rooms (whirlpool tubs, fireplaces, feather beds) for something more like $250-300 per night.

Nevertheless, the place is gorgeous, the sheep are adorable, the Amelia Suite is to-die-for romantic, and the breakfast is rich and delicious. The secret is out - the Woolverton is wonderful.

I can't say enough about the Woolverton Inn! My husband and I stayed in Newell's Library room, which was very cozy. The Inn and grounds are so beautiful, and we just loved the sheep as our alarm clock both mornings! Carolyn and Bob, the innkeepers, are so gracious and friendly. The gourmet breakfast each morning (included in the cost of the stay) was such a treat and kept us full well into early afternoon! Sitting on the front porch with a homemade cookie and a drink is the perfect way to unwind after exploring the tow path just down the road. My husband and I will definitely be back...and hopefully with our dog next time, since they are pet friendly!

Room Tip: If you would like to bring your pet, be sure to ask about the pet friendly accomadation options.

I was married at the inn on 10/10/10. Everything was perfect! We had searched 3 states for the perfect outdoor wedding venue the allowed dogs. Every place we had seen sacrificed at least half of what we wanted. Then we looked at the woolverton inn and there was no hesitation. The rooms were all so unique and beautiful. Every bed was so comfortable ( I sat on each one!) Half my family staying there was kosher, and the keepers were so accomodating. They were very patient with the young ones ( they took a liking to the sheep.) Breakfast was AMAZING. We first walked into our cottage with a fire in the fireplace, dog bowls set out. Morning walks around the property were so relaxing for such a hectic weekend. I'm not sure how half the stuff got done in time for the wedding, but I'm pretty sure it was thanks to them.
