I must admit that after years of faithfully patronizing Florida Cold Cuts, we finally gave up. Yes the store's cold cut are fresh and of good quality, and yes they had the best hoagies anywhere, and yes, especially their tuna hoagies which my husband and friends looked forward to (but rarely could get after awhile) every Sunday. However, the store was (can't speak for nowadays) incredibly unfriendly to its faithful customers. Let me count the ways. 1. To start, they were open until 6:00 on Sunday but would deny you an order on a regular basis almost weekly, any time after 5:00 because they ran out of rolls, or sorry they "already cleaned their slicer and can't sell any more hoagies." 2. They were closed, or closed early, on summer holidays! Hello. This is a shore town resort where there are more hungry visitors on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. 3. The owner had been there forever. We had been steady customers for as long, while he was just an employee. This is a neighborhood business with regular local customers. A hello or even a smile would have been nice once in a while. Not just me. I never saw one nicety, one shred of conversation pass between him and a customer. I could site other incidents from friends, but I'll stick to my own observations. I'm glad to know he still offers hoagies, and hope it is more than just sometimes. As I said, we gave up patronizing this store long ago for the above reasons. Perhaps, the ownership has softened his demeanor and become a little more customer friendly. But we gave up waiting.
