Excellent B&B. quiet, peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was exquisite and the local kid friendly restaurant ( Smokey's) was the icing on the cake. Only one minute drive from Mountain Creek Ski Resort. that's right- 60 seconds away! Highly recommend.

Our family stayed overnight at the Alpine Haus in Vernon, NJ, the Saturday before Christmas 2012. We range in age from 5 to 74. We all had a great time!! We booked every room at the Inn. Allison and Jack were wonderful. They allowed us to literally take over the place! The Inn is beautiful and comfortable all at the same time. We all enjoyed the yummy cookies and the delicious breakfast. It was great to stay somewhere so convenient and close to home, but feel like we were a world away. Thank you Allison and Jack! We are hoping to all come back again soon!

Room Tip: Our family stayed in all of the rooms at the Inn. They were all great!!

The place looks super cute. The location was perfect for our trip to The Hidden Valley Club, but I imagine it's even better for Mountain Creek. The room was cute. The place was clean. The breakfast was amazing. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay. Really excellent food. There were also tasty cookies in the living room.

We were so happy to find a room so close to Mountain Creek at such a decent price. We paid 130 for Sat night and we were perfectly happy to oblige.

We stayed in the Edelweiss room, which was a bit smaller than we expected, but a beautiful room nontheless. Some cons: no slippers, no robes, no conditioner - but we definitely didn't mind. After a long day of ski, we would've appreciated a bath tub though (albeit no complaints!).

The cookies in the living room area were fantastic. I admit, I had 3-4 in one sitting....

The only real con we have was that we were only offered one choice for breakfast - upside down french toast. It was even too sweet for me, someone who has a huge sweet tooth, and my guest who does not enjoy sweets, barely finished his. Only recommendation would be that they offer at least another choice.

My husband and I stayed here after spending a night in the Mineral Resort and Spa. We decided to stay at Alpine Haus last minute to hunker down during winter storm, Nemo. The B&B is very cute, and worth what I think are very fair rates that they charge. We were looking at $250 for a Fri night at Minerals Resort & Spa or $130-150 for a Fri night at Alpine Haus. Considering that we weren't awe inspired by Minerals, this decision was an easy one. I am very glad we stayed at Alpine Haus and would encourage others to do the same. That said, any place has pros and cons, so here they are:

Pros - the free tea/coffee and homemade cookies in front living room are very nice!
the linens and towels were of a good grade, much like what most of us have at home - that is a nice plus, and a contrast to Minerals Resort & Spa, believe it or not.
On suite, private bathrooms in each room.
Beds/pillows we thought were very comfortable.
The rooms/bathrooms were well cleaned.
Jack, one of the owners, was very friendly! Allison was perfectly nice, but seemed a bit shy?
Breakfast was quite yummy, and a filling pre-ski or pre-hike meal!
Hair dryers in each bathroom.
Very pretty overlooks from balconies on back of the house for all guests (or smokers) to use.

Cons-
the whole B&B has a pretty apparent smell, from a candle or air freshener, so it isn't a bad smell, but some people are sensitive to that sort of thing (not us :) )
Like in many older homes, noise does travel a bit in this place, so just be prepared for that.
Bathrooms are clean, but could use some updating or at least new caulk/silicone lines around shower doors. It would make it look as clean as it surely is, and yes, like one reviewer said the showers are pretty small! (they are typical drop in corner showers, and just a bit tight).
No conditioner provided (shampoo, shower gel and a makeup remover are provided).

The location is great. Extremely close to Mountain Creek and the Crystal Springs golf courses. If I were to return to Vernon for skiing or golfing, and I didn't want to spend $250+ on a room/night, I would absolutely look to Alpine Haus as a great option! This is definitely a recommend!

We've stayed in dozens of inns within 200 miles of Long Island and this is the best one overall.
Everything there is just perfect and we had a very enjoyable stay.
We were there to ski at Mountain Creek. The Inn is
literally across the street from the North Peak in Vernon, but far enough away from the crowds and the traffic.
The rooms were spotless and comfortable, especially the very high beds. Somewhat Colonial style.
The Common Room was comfortable too and well stocked with fresh coffee, reading material, and games.
Breakfast was homemade and very delicious.
We liked the Innkeepers. They were very friendly and helpful.
It was nice of them to let us eat our take out Italian dinner in the breakfast room on Sat. night.
It was easy to get last minute room reservations there, so we will definitely return this winter. The rates are fair and well worth it.

We stayed at the Alpine Haus for 3 nights to celebrate New Year 2013 with out extended family (17 adults and 7 kids). You may find another review here from someone else from our family. I just wanted to add how very friendly and accommodating Jack and Allison were. The common room on the first floor was already very nicely decorated, but we wanted to add some of our own decorations, so they offered to re-arrange furniture a little to have everything the way we wanted. Also, my 91-years old mother could not climb the high bed, even with a step stool (all beds are really high), and Jack went out of his way to solve this problem to make her stay comfortable and safe. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful time.
