Wow, it's been a while since i walked this classic boardwalk, and it will be quite a while till I do it again. Meter parking near the boardwalk is $2 an hour. Can't believe the merchants like this. Wildwood has several amusement piers with great rides. The majority of the boardwalk stores are souvenir, t shirts, specialty foods and games. Strolling along, people watching is lots of fun One last thing - Watch the Tram Car, Please!.

My friend and I visited Wildwood from our accommodations in Cape May and Cape May Point. We had both worked in the Wildwoods summers when we were in college, almost 50 years ago. Not much had changed on the boardwalk although both of the amusement piers seem to have been completely renovated. They are also much further from the ocean's edge. The sandy beaches have increased greatly in size. The ocean used to come under the piers!

We were delighted to see that Laura's Fudge, near the bus terminal, has not changed a bit in appearance.

At our ages, we did not hesitate to take the $3 tram for a trip up and back to the northern end of the boardwalk. Children were still in school, early June 2014, so the population was reduced, but still a bit rough, part of Wildwood's appeal.

I liked the fact that it felt safe to walk on the boardwalk with a child even after sunset. I disliked the fact that the amusement parks were not open on weekdays.

The Boardwalk was not what I envisioned at all - fudge shops, icecream, games, etc...it was much more "rough around the edges" - not a family friendly environment. The amusement rides were fun and we enjoyed that section of the Boardwalk. On our way back to our hotel, we actually decided to leave the Boardwalk and walk down the street to avoid the Boardwalk scene.

Wildwood boardwalk goes for blocks and blocks with rides, games, places to eat, and stores. If you don't care to walk, sit on a bench and watch hundreds of people go by or take a tram car from 1 end to the other. No matter what you do, you and the kids, especially, will enjoy yourselves.
