My husband has a soft place in his heart for Wildwood, as he spent many a summer vacations here as a kid. I could take it or leave it. For me it's a teenagers beach, or a party animal and I am neither. The board walk is packed to gills in the summer, and if you're trying to navagate the traffic with small children and a stroller forget about it. I was terrified my children or me would be run over by the tram car, or unruly teens. In addition, the 1/4 trek across the hot sand to actually get anywhere near the water is daunting enough, add in 4 children, a husband, umbrella's, toys, cooler, blankets, towels, you get the picture, TOURTURE!! If you have to go, skip Wildwood, stay in Wildwood Creast, much nicer, quieter, and and way shorter trek to the water. Hit the main Wildwood board walk at night, if you dare, it does have the authentic east coast beach town feel, just not my cup of tea.
