“Clean but lacking in everything else...”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

Well, we survived our 4 days at the Monaco Motel, but just barely! There were 4 of us staying there. We paid extra to get a room with a kitchenette, which at the other 2 motels I've stayed in Wildwood meant a bigger room, an actual kitchen area, table, chairs, etc. But here it was really just a regular motel room (and a very, very small room at that) with a teeny, tiny bit of kitchen stuff jammed into the corner. Mini fridge, no oven, no counter space, circa 1980-something microwave on a tilted wire shelf above my head that threatened to come down on me every time I used it! There was one little half-table and 2 chairs. The table was needed to hold other stuff because the rest of the room was so small, so you had to sit on the beds to eat. Oh, and make sure you bring your own coffee. There was a coffee pot, but no coffee!! I have never stayed anywhere that had a coffee pot but no coffee!! We also brought food for grilling, which the motel said on its website that it had. However, when I went to use it, it had a nice "Out of Order" sign on the grate inside the grill. So I had to burn our chicken in the tin pot on the stove burner. However, by the last day there, a new grill did show up. Thankfully the AC worked. You needed it to clear the stuffiness out of the room because the miniscule bathroom had no fan!! After everyone showered, all the walls were dripping with water. And if you need ice, be prepared to hunt down the owner every time, because it is always locked. The one nice thing I will say about the place is that it was clean (no bedbugs), and the cleaning staff was very friendly. The proximity to the boardwalk was nice, but there are about 100 other motels on the same street. Next time we go, we will find another one.

This past wknd was the third time I've stayed at the Monaco motel in the last four years (twice with friends and once by myself). Everyone will tell you the bathroom is very small but you have shower, sink and working toilet so get over it. The rooms were clean, Kevin was friendly and accommodating and the location is out of this world. Will be back!!!

Room Tip: Trying getting a room on the top level (there are only 2 levels).

After reading so many scary reviews of other hotels in wildwood I finally decided on the Monaco due to it's consistently positive reviews particularly in the area of cleanliness. We were not disappointed. Our room and bathroom were very clean. It would have been nice to have a microwave but that was not listed as a part in the first place. Woulda also have been nice to check out later than 10am on the last day but then again we are night owls. The place was always very quiet, which I was leery on being so close to the boardwalk; but it worked out great. The place is within walking distance from many great restaurants and all the parks and amusements on the boardwalk. We only took the car out one day on a trip to cape may. The piggyback parking is a bit weird but since we didn't have to move our car as we got one of the single spots it was fine. I'd def stay again

Room Tip: Be aware the manager lives right by the office. we got locked out one night and that would have been...

Location was great - just a few feet from the boardwalk. The bathroom is extremely small - literally no room to turn around. Front desk attendent was not rude but only offered information when asked. Parking is terrible as you are comepletely parked in your entire stay. If you want out for any reason, you need to ask the front desk attendent to move cars, which is a hassle the whole way around (which, BTW, makes loading & unloading luggage extremly tight and cumbersome). Ice machine is locked so after hours, you're screwed. The clientele at this motel, at least when we were there, was the younger, partying crowd so expect an EXTREMELY noisey stay because of guests and people returning from the boardwalk late at night.

Room Tip: If you have your heart set in staying here, choose an upstairs room.

This wasn't a completely horrible motel...it just had a lot of little things that added up over the week to make them annoying...

The room had no clock, the microwave was on an overhead broken shelf (which miraculously didn't break and kill someone), the bathroom was unbelievably small, the toilet and tub dripped all week, the tiny beds had no fitted sheets (just bed sheets tucked in the sides), the ice machine was almost always locked (you had to go to the manager's office to get the key), and the small parking lot made you park behind someone else (you have to leave your keys at the office with the shady looking manager and they'll move your car for you if you're not around...no thank you). There were 4 of us in the room (2 adults, 2 kids) which made things a bit tight, but the room's size would probably be good for 2 people.

Otherwise, the location is nice just behind the boardwalk, the sun deck was relaxing in between trips down the boardwalk, the maid staff was friendly, and the rooms were surprisingly clean. Would I stay there again? Meh...I dunno...

I would rate this hotel between 3-4 out of 5. Location is outstanding (right at the boardwark). By the way, contrary to other reviews, walk to the beach from boardwalk is not that long (maybe 5 - 7 minutes, and definitely less then 1/2 mile as others stated). Beds in the hotel very comfortable, I had very good sleep. Conditioner is very good, did not feel any heat. Bathroom is small, and somewhat dirty (could use improvement). No microwave is the room, but I used one in the main office. Room itself is somewhat small, however I just needed it for sleep at night. Also, contrary to other reviews, there are no rude people and kids on boardwalk. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful (from store and restaurant owners to other vacationers). Also, in Monaco Motel, they give you a card that you can use on the boardwalk stores, and in most restaurants and you get 10-20% discount, that really adds up. Also the owner is really helpful, and tried to go out of his way to help us out and answer the questions. Parking is small, however never had issues with it, as we had one car. Overall a great weekend at Wildwood.

Room Tip: As for rooms upstairs, as there is less noise there.

Me and three of my friends visited Wildwood for 3 nights and 4 days. The motel was relatively clean, and you get what you pay for. Our room (number eight) needed to be updated. The bathroom is extremely small, but gets the job done. The room included a 40 inch flat-screen with 100 or so channels, and a large fridge. Important note: if there is anyone in the room under 21, then a $200 cash deposit it required for the room. The sun deck is very nice to relax on, and the boardwalk is located less than 50 feet away. I recommend the motel for an average stay.
