This was the only hotel we could find open at 11 p.m. in Wildwood NJ and cost $150 for a Thurs. night out of season, and the room was about 9x9--I had NEVER been in such a small room. The guy who checked us in was slower than molasses (and joked about stabbing my son with scissors, which I didn't find amusing).
The Internet wasn't working on our computer or Ipod. So I called the front desk and asked the guy to check the router and maybe turn it off and on because there were no bars and it wasn't accessible (both had worked at McD's a short time earlier, and I do Internet on the road enough that I KNOW how to work it).
Instead of creative problem solving, he insisted it was working. I said, "I'm glad it's working in your office but the signal is not reaching the rooms." I mentioned that we needed the Internet and that was part of what we paid for.
So did he make sure I had the right password, check his router cords, or offer to pay for us to use the neighborhood wireless that costs $6 an hour or $12 a day? Or even suggest we come to the office for Internet or try it again in 15 minutes? Or even offer to knock $10 off the hotel bill?
No. He informed me that they weren't meeting our needs so I could come to the office and get a full refund. "You mean leave? Like where are we supposed to go? It's midnight. We're here." So he wanted to talk to my HUSBAND and informed him that we needed to leave. Because I complained that the Internet didn't work. No choice. I have 2 kids and my husband is a senior. My 9 year old was sobbing her eyes out because she was so upset that we were kicked out. And of course he refused to give us any leads on finding another hotel and they all close down at 10 p.m. here.
Then we had to sit around while Mr. slower than molasses inspected the room to make sure we hadn't trashed it in the 20 minutes before we were kicked out.
