“Cape Cod is GOOD....for a Wildwood Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2012

If you are reading this, you, your family, your grandparents or their parents have been coming to the Doo Wop experience of the Wildwoods since the 60's. Also, you know hopefully the differences in the "Crest" and North Wildwood" as compared to "Wildwood." And choosing the Crest you seek the family oriented vaca with modest amenities. If not, you are coming down to the wrong vacation region or planning to rent a high priced newer condo at around $500 plus or more a night. So stop reading if you want luxury, you ain't getting it. But there is more to this review than luxuries.....

The review is based on many this reviewer has completed on Wildwood motels, and is strictly based on its peers. We simply cannot compare these old motels/motor inns to Hiltons, Marriotts, Fairmonts or Ritz Carltons.

The Cape Cod is a 60's structure similar in type to about 75% of the other concrete block 2-4 story structures around the area. Charming? Not really as the idea behind the hotel here is for some creature comforts (beds, fridge, microwave, pool, gas grill and lounge chairs), and it has all of that. Room we stayed in for three was a two-room with a double and single in the back room and a double in the front room, fridge and microwave, no kitchen and small table. Cost high time was $159 plus $16 or so on top. Believe it or not, cheaper than alot of the others in this category. Room was clean with a remodeled bathroom and tub (very small), two decent size rooms with I'd say a max comfort of 3 people or two adults and max two younger kids. Inside room was typical Wildwood decor....masonry painted walls with some sand effect, decent furnishings, comfortable enough bedding and what appeared to be a newer low pile carpet. The room was clean, the bedding (it all comes from one location on the island) was clean and crisp, perhaps maybe too laundered. Towels were OK. AC at the back so you could not close the door for any privacy even if you wanted to, the AC would freeze you out in the room and no AC in the front room would get in and you would roast. Fan in the front room was good and a small but newer table was there to sit and take food out and such. It was total creature comforts with some places to put clothes. They had a mini golf which was used by the small kids to occupy time. All non smoking rooms....

The management of the hotel were there and visible, the staff was hired help but they worked on keeping the place as clean as possible daily. Gas grills needed cleaning when I wanted to use it for lunch so it may have went unattended the night before. No worries. Sun deck adds a nice touch for days, evenings and morning coffee and the location is in the Crest but about a 1/3 mile from the beginning of the boardwalk if that is what you desired. We purchase the early bird winter price for the tram car that runs about a buck a ride instead of $2.50 each ticket so we pick it up like a tax.....Pool was nice too, cleaned daily and maintained, relatively new.

So, why do I rate this a "very good" when what I really described as pretty average? Well, compared to its peers, the place was clean, comfortable, family oriented and convenient to the greatest beach on this earth, close to walkable restaurants (Bandannas, Tony Luke's, Marcello's and Primo) to name a few. Coffee shops (Doo Wop and others are also nearby for morning breakfast. So when you seek out for new places remember there are none. If they are remodeled, they were still built in the 60's so it will show wear. How they dress it up is the difference. And this, while priced high no matter what you think, is still cheaper than many many many others in its peers, so that is why, according to its peers, this gets a very good.

This is a town drenched in history and nostalgia. Part of me sort of likes the corny Doo Wop, the neon lights, the stories behind these old places. It brings memories or creates new ones. It rained a little so board games and stuff were on the menu, even though my daughter peeked more at her I-phone but we did bring it back in time. And the motel is recommended for that, bringing families together in a comfortable place around a city that has great beaches, good restaurants, a great boardwalk and mostly nice people all around. Go visit the Cape Cod.....the place in Jersey not Massachusetts......it's fun!!!!

My wife's family has been going to this inn since the 60's or 70's, our family since the late 80's. This motel was probably built in the 50's. It is not the Taj Mahal. It is not even the Taj Mahal of AC. It is close to the beach. It is safe. The pool is nice. It has mini golf, an outdoor grill, you can do your laundry, and it is very family friendly. I recommend it if your kids are small. If you are looking for plush, forget it. The suites on the 4th floor are nice, but make sure you are not in one of the "conference room" layouts. But the family that has owned it for many years is very nice and helpful. They are "very good people."

Room Tip: rooms 404-408 are the suites on the 4th floor and are the best.

As a manager, I want to thank you for the nice compliment on the Cape Cod Inn Motel.
The Cape cod Inn Motel was built in the 70's and the 4th floor was built in 2004. We up date our building every year.
Along the east coast beaches the only Taj Mahal is in Atlantic City, New Jersey . We are all seasonal motels along the shore.

Thank you again a hope to see you next year.

As a family, we first came to the Cape Cod Inn in 1973. At that time it was me (Mom), Dad and two little boys, 3 and 1. Angelo and his wife greeted us warmly and the two men bonded immediately with their Italian culture and love of good wine. As a family we returned every year, growing in size, with the addition of our daughter who experienced the Inn at 13 mths of age. She was the belle of the ball for the week we spent there. Now its 2012, and my family still returns to Wildwood every summer. The little DiSanto children are all grown up now and bring their children to enjoy the pleasures of "the crest". As the mom and grammy to this family, I 'm very pleased that this tradition has been carried through for these years. Thanks for the memories, Cape Cod Inn!!!

We just had a four day and three night stay in Wildwood Crest, NJ at the Cape Cod Inn. The rooms were cleaned, but the house keepers would come at the most inconvenient timing and when asking if they could come back in ten minutes until we could collect our stuff to leave, we received attitude from the staff. The staff in the front office were okay but if you have any questions it seemed like we were inconveniencing them for an answer. The most important comment I have is with the parking. I understand that the parking is for the customers and that it is limited however, when we were visiting the hotel, we had two cars and were only able to have one car at the complex. When I asked about the two cars situation, they responded with a rude comment about parking on the street and when I asked if it was safe to park on the street i received another rude comment along the lines of "well its not New York City, so yea its safe!" Another situation we encountered with the parking lot was that there were no places for the second car to park due to the nice weather all the blocks were full. After searching for a place to park for about ten minutes, I went into the lobby to ask the lady behind the desk if I could have a temporary pass to park in the parking lot because there were no spots to park and were searching for the past ten minutes and would move the second car in like 20 minutes to see if a spot had opened and the response was, "well tonight we were be booked so we have no room. Therefore you cant have a temporary pass." Meanwhile it was like 1:00PM when we asked for the pass and that night there was like 4 open spots, so obvious lie that they were not "booked" and had "no room" for a 20 MINUTE TEMPORARY PASS!! On the other hand, when we did find a spot it was okay to leave the car. The way the parking lot is set up had spots in front of other spots, therefore if you pull into a spot another car can pull into the spot behind you and then your blocked in until they leave. Now that would be fine if you were with another car BUT the other car isnt allowed to park in the lot so really does NOT make sense unless you buy another room. The rooms were nice but wayyyyyyyy over priced!! I was told a price when I booked the room and then when we got to the hotel to check in the price jumped nearly $100.00. At this point we were already there and it was to late to find another hotel to stay at. PLUS there was a $250.00 non-refundable deposit fee that I would have lost if we left. Needless to say this is the last time we were be staying at the Cape Cod Inn and probably the last time we will be going to Wldwood.

Room Tip: Don't get a room in the lowest floor because the pool and the mini golf are located in front of...

We spent a week here this summer season and did not enjoy it. Our room was clean and basic and relatively new. Our maid was very nice. They tried to overcharge me at check in. Make sure if you go there you bring your deposit confirmation. The towels were great, really soft.

The mini-golf, pool table and ping-pong were beat up and old. The covered chairs on the upper deck were dirty. When you advertise these as amenties they should be in better shape. Our room that slept 6 had only 5 chairs for the table. We have been traveling to the Wildwoods for many years and I know you can get better for the same price. I would not stay there again. I would rate this an average minus.

Once again my family and I had a great time at the Cape Cod Inn for our annual week in Wildwood.

If you're expecting a Marriott, it's best you readjust your expectations. It's a Jersey shore motel meaning you need to expect clean, spacious rooms close to the beach and other area attractions. This one is a short one block, three minute walk to the beach and a ten minute walk to the southern end of the famous Wildwood boardwalk, although you'll need to walk another fifteen minutes to get anywhere close to where the action is (something that is true of ALL Wildwood Crest motels).

The rooms are basic but well-maintained and clean. Ours was freshly upgraded with new carpeting, new bathroom and flat screen TV in the front room (back bedrooms still have older non-HD TVs). There was a queen bed in the front room and a twin and queen in the back meaning the room could theoretically sleep five people, but a large family would probably want one of the motel's suites for anything more than a short stay.

As always, the staff was friendly and we experienced no problems at any point during the week. Typical of Wildwood motels, it wasn't luxurious, but you'd be be hard pressed to find a better option in the area when you take into account the condition of the motel and it's proximity to everything.
