just stayed at armada by the sea from reading the reviews on tripadvisor and must say the reviews were right! we stayed from June 28,2008-July 4, 2008. I haven't been to wildwood crest in about 15 years and was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience!! Overall, The armada is very well maintained from the rooms to the pool. we actually stayed in 3 different rooms because my husband and daughters did not want to leave and we stayed extra nights. the first 4 nights we stayed in the efficiency 2 bedrooms suite on the 3rd floor, then an oceanfront room on the 4th floor, then a one bedroom on the 5th floor. The oceanfront views and oceanviews are spectacular. Right across from the motel there is a huge beautiful area with grass and plenty of benches. It was refreshing to see this area is not developed---yet. I would definately recommend the Armada for a pleasant stay in Wildwood crest. If you haven't been to Wildwood Crest in a long time, you need to go back. We will.

I have been to Wildwood and Wildwood Crest many times and as many people already know, most of the motels were built in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Some of the motels remain in good condition, are kept clean, and are refurbished or remodeled as needed. Some of the motels do not adhere to these standards. I must say that I am impressed with the Armada. I stayed there 8 years ago and again in June 2008 and the quality has remained the same - well above average! The owners are on the ball and take pride in the motel and are helpful in every way. You can tell that the motel is maintained year round so that things always look good. The pool was always clean and the motel staff is always making sure everything is ok. My wife and I had an oceanview efficiency and the view was great! The room was very nice and clean upon check in and the maids did a good job keeping it clean. We stayed a week and it helped to have all sunny and warm days. The Armada is in a nice location in Wildwood Crest and still close enough if you wanted to walk to the boardwalk. The motel now has all non smoking rooms. However, smoking is still permitted on the balconies and pool area which bothered us when sitting outside of our room. As non-smokers, this was the only issue for us. Aside from that I would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a clean, well maintained, friendly motel in Wildwood Crest.

My husband and I stayed in room 410 9/8/07-9/10/07. It was bike weekend and the city was packed, but we never once had a problem getting a parking spot at the hotel. They have both outdoor and indoor parking. We were greeted by a gorgeous koi pond next to the pool. We arrived at 11 AM and the room was ready and waiting, spotless, an abundance of nice thick towels, an immaculate kitchen, nice furnishings, certainly no "musty smell" and a view of the ocean that goes on forever. (We had a side room, which all the side rooms over look the pool, sundecks and the endless coast) There are 2 sundecks, a sparkling clean pool that is heated to soothing bathwater temperature! AHHHHHH, did that feel GREAT! We left Sunday morning at 8 to go have breakfast, and grab a few things on the boards, were back at the room by 10:30 and the room had already been cleaned and was spotless. Housekeeping even put all 4 pillows on ONE of the double beds as they could see we were a couple using just one of the double beds...it's those small attentions to detail that matter. The hotel has southern exposure all day and while the balconies are not "private" they may as well be with the way they are slanted, if you are sitting outside, you cannot see your neighbors who may be sitting out too, unless you want to pull your chairs around the wall to chat. Even the guests seemed to be great friendly people. Plenty of lounge chairs by the pool. Front desk smiling genuinley and offered us a great tip to go to Nana's deli for great hoagies. Even though we check out 9/10/07 at 11 AM we were allowed to use the pool, powder room and all facilities all day which we did until we finally tore ourselves away around 5 PM. The rates are EXTREMELY reasonable. yeah,, NJ hits ya with a fat tax, but that is not the hotels fault, we paid 105 for 9/8/ and 81 for 9/9, we had a fantastic BIG room (living room is larger than normal) full kitchen with everything, full oven, digital coffee maker, microwave, full fridge and a seperate bedroom. AIR is ICE cold! I've stayed at so many places in the Wildwoods and I find that I seem to get lucky again and again. We got lucky this time too. Thank you for a great long weekend Armada!

My mother and I stayed at the Armada by the Sea for three days during the last week in August, 2007. We wanted a nice, quiet relaxing vacation by the ocean and that is exactly what we got. We booked a 2 room efficiency room. It was very large with a small kitchen, table and couch in the big room and 2 double beds in the bedroom. There is separate air conditioning units in each room and they both worked great especially during a hot week. The motels on the shore are not the Hilton, but it was clean and all towels and other necessities were replaced each day. Each room also has a semi-private place to sit outside the rooms. Almost all the rooms have a view of the ocean but just a warning that getting to the ocean is a bit of a walk. My mother is a senior and only made it because there was a wooden walkway for much of the way and the sand was hard. The beach is wonderful for families. It was all groups of families on vacation with their children or older couples enjoying the shore. They have umbrella's and chairs to rent and they even come and put the umbella up for you! The hotel's pool is a decent size and they separate one side for the little ones with a gate. It never got too crowded where we couldn't find a place to sit and it was wonderful to come back to the pool after a long day. It does close at 7pm however. Only one bad thing happened during our trip. One day the elevator was broken and we were on the 5th floor, but I have to say that they really got it fixed as soon as possible. The night we returned we had to walk the 5 flights, but they already had someone there working on it and by noon the next day, it was fixed. I would highly recommend this place to families and older travelers. We plan on coming back with our entire family next summer!

My family (spouse and 6 and 3 year old) and I stayed 3 nights at the Armada 8/27-8/30. Check -in was a breeze, hotel was very nice and clean. Housekeeping did a good job tidying up our rooms and providing towels daily. We stayed in a two room oceanfront suite. As you enter enter the room, you have a queen size bed in the bedroom and the bathroom. In the next room are the kitchen, Murphy bed, sofa bed and balcony. The balcony had a beautiful view of the ocean and offered a lot of privacy from the other oceanfront guests. It was nice seeing the other families riding their bicycles on the sidewalk across from the hotel every morning and watching the moon at night. The kitchen was so useful for cooking our breakfast and dinners. The pool was a decent size and was not very crowded during the times we went (early morning and late evening). The beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The major plus is the hotel is located in Wildwood Crest, a very nice family area away from the boardwalk. I thought the A/C in the front room would not reach the back bedroom, but it did quite a bit that I had to shut the door from being too cold!
The only complaints I have are that the bathroom sink knob was hard to open at times and the shower temperature would change from hot to cold several times during showering but these were very minor compared to all the plusses of the hotel. I would definitely recommend the Armada to anyone considering staying in Wildwood Crest!!

Our stay at the Armada was truly a pleasure, even though we were there during the COLDEST and rainiest August days ever recorded in Wildwood Crest. We were a group of 21...6 families, 12 adults and 9 children (ranging in age from 8 through 17). The rooms (4 families got Oceanview Suites, 1 got an Oceanview Double, and we had an Oceanfront Room), were all neat, clean and updated. We've stayed in "the Crest" for the past 4 years, and it was great to have rooms that did NOT smell of mildew - and airconditioners that were working beautifully! The mattresses were firm! The pool is sizable and clean (although there is no diving board - but this was a non-issue). The kids had fun on the beautiful oversized and partially-covered sundeck and in the game room. The "men" thought the Grill was top-notch (we barbecued 2 of the 3 nights we were there). Coffee is served every morning at 8 am, and it was delicious. The staff was very accomodating, and the women working in housekeeping attended to our every need. The hotel is beautifully situated...a "nice" walk to the Boardwalk - not too far, but far enough away that you don't have to deal with the noise and congestion of the crowds. Bicycle rentals and playgrounds are nearby, and a beautiful greenspace is being developed directly across the street from the hotel...so the views from the rooms are not obscured by any other hotel. This group is planning to make The Armada our next year's destination and for the forseeable future! You'll love it!

Our stay at the Armada was great. Let me start by saying that we had originally booked another hotel but after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor cancelled our room there and booked at the Armada. We were having trouble finding a room for the weekend we needed and when we called the Armada we spoke to a very nice lady by the name of Bonnie who was able to accomadate us. This was our first time ever staying in the Crest, we usually stay right in Wildwood close to the amusement piers. Now on with the acutal review!

Check in was smooth, no problems. Our room was nice. We had 2 double beds which were a little soft but comfy. The room had a microwave and mini-fridge which was great to keep our water cold. The AC worked great in the room and kept us all cool! The room had a tv which was able to show dvd's and vhs tapes. The bathroom was a little small but had everything we needed and did the trick. The bathroom had a in-wall safe which you could rent a key for if you needed to. We had a side beach view room which looked directly down over the pool. The room was very clean and bright. There is only one elevator in the hotel but we never had a long wait for it the whole weekend.

The hotel has a little arcade with some video games, a pool table, and a ping pong table. The pool was very nice. I didnt actually get the chance to swim but other people in our party did and enjoyed the pool very much. There are plenty of lounge chairs so it wasnt a problem getting one. The hotel is right on the beach and in a great location.

Overall we really enjoyed our weekend at the Armada and we will probably be staying there again next year.
