My family and I have stayed in the Royal Hawaiian for the last 4 years. We have stayed there for 3-4 days at a time and long weekends throughout the summers. Les and the staff have always been very accomodating to me and my friends that I have referred. They make you feel comfortable and at home. We started coming here after my mother died and they were very supportive of my needs. The location in the Crest has fabulous views of the ocean, beaches are cleaned every morning and there are Good Restaurants nearby. Even though we are in our 40's, we appreciate the hotel being a little quieter than the loud, noisy, teenage-filled North Wildwood hotels. They usually do not rent to teenagers. It is in their policy. I have been goin to Wildwood for over 40 years and have stayed in several of the beachfront hotels --ones that look good on the brochure and when you get there ---they are really fallin apart, broken locks on doors, no a/c when they advertised it and my one daughter has asthma and needed air conditioning. There were big leaks in the ceilings and wet rugs .Some places that I have spent more money on for less amenities. Complaining to the management of those places was a waste of time, cause they did not want to help me and they had already taken my money. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AT THE ROYAL HAWAIIAN. We have been very pleased with Royal Hawaiian -beds were good, rooms were clean and smelled good. I always touch up the bathroom 'cause that 's just me. I have to admit I am a PRETTY FUSSY type of person and I NEVER saw any type of bugs NOR would I stay in such a place. The pool is fantastic-it's large and the area surrounding the pool is huge with many poolchairs. I do not swim but my family does and I watch the pool guy in the morning cleaning it and testing it etc. I raised two girls and feel like it is up to the parent to mind your child and change his/her diaper. This responsibility is the parent's job not the Royal Hawaiian's --they do their best to keep the pool clean. They have installed a camera pointed towards the pool for people who get carried away and decide to jump off the balcony from the 5th floor. You have to wonder what possesses a person to do that .All I can come up with is people do have a tendency to want to either "show off " or maybe are too drunk ? and do not realize what they are doin. There is a reason why there is no diving board here. Royal Hawaiian does not want one and I have noticed only the older motel/hotels still have them. The jacuzzi/spa with the waterfall is very relaxing. Another good thing about the Royal Hawaiian is that the front desk has someone there late at night which I like because it make you feel more secure. I have stayed here on several occasions without my husband and never had a problem. As far as the ice machine goes, they did have another ice machine near the pool that is no longer there and I too go to fill up the ice but you have to remember the number of rooms this place has and almost everyone needs ice for the beach etc. Sometimes I will just go to the store and get some if they are out. No biggie. Almost all the motels/hotels in Wildwood have narrow parking spaces -guess I'm just used to it. Every year when I return, I do notice an improvement, new screen doors, updated furniture, new rugs in units etc. It's hard to do all the rooms at once, but they are tryin. Unlike other hotels that are rarely updated for sometimes 20 years. They are only interested in making the most money they can in the season and not in investing it back into the buiIding. I also see a handyman touch up paint the rooms as you leave ---which is nice. They have a small gift shop which sells coffee, muffins for in the morning, that's a plus. Being in customer service myself, satisfied/ pleased families would not even take the time to write a review. However, I felt this was necessary. Some people are want it all and are never happy. Remember you are not "At the Ritz " You are in Wildwood....
