We spent a night at Matyholweni in early June and really enjoyed it. This was not our first visit to Addo but it was the first time we stayed at this southern camp. It is only about 2km from the N2 so very convenient to get to. There are only about 15 cottages in this camp and all are self-catering. There is no shop or other facilities available so it is important to have bought all your groceries prior to arrival.
The cottages have been fairly recently built and are fairly modern in design and nicely outfitted. Comfortable bed, functional bathroom (with shower), and a spacious open plan kitchen. Small raised deck with a braai (bbq) attached to the railing so very convenient for cooking outside.
We did have a mouse (as an extra resident) and kicked out a bat, but we were in a National Park so the "wildlife" is somewhat expected as we are the visitors. The camp is fenced so we saw no larger animals in the camp.
We will definitely visit again when spending time in Addo.More
