“away from Tzaneen but lovely, clean and nice surroundings”
Reviewed 18 August 2013

It's not exactly in Tzaneen, but the place is lovely with large, clean and comfortable rooms. I had a perfect shower, a nice bed, minibar, tv, and at the receptionarea there's (free) wifi available. A nice bar, a restaurant and a decent breakfastbuffet made the stay very nice. In the surroundings of the lodge, there are a few short and longer walks with chances of wildlifespotting.

We stayed for 4 nights, using as a base to explore the fantastic area. It was not a bad experience but it could have been better. We were in room 14, which had no proper shower, just a spray in the bath. The food was very good, but the menu does not change, so by the fourth night we did not bother, and one evening the lounge was out of bounds for a private party.

On the upside, it is immaculately clean, breakfast was brilliant and the serving and reception staff were really willing and helpful to us two foreigners. And the location is good, easy access to lots of local scenic and cultural attractions.

Room Tip: If you want a shower make sure you get one.

Where does one begin to describe the superb levels of service, excellent food, wonderfully friendly & helpful staff and staying at a hotel that offers "the personal touch"
I will be sad to leave this place as it is so absolutely tranquil and beautiful.
Thank you to Coenie and all the staff you made a business trip to your hotel feel like a home away from home!!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms near the Animal farm, fun to hear the noises of roosters crowing

Our family spend one night in this hotel while travelling. The hotel was everything we looked for after a long day driving which was (1) a clean and comfortable room, (2) professional and friendly staff, (3) a location just off the main road, (4) a gym room and (5) restaurant in the hotel. We especially enjoyed the beautiful garden. The breakfast buffet was included in the room rate and was good. We were however not impressed with the quality of food at dinner. Overall we found this hotel good quality for money.

My husband and I went to the Country Lodge for a couple massage. We have never experienced a more terrible massage - if you could call it that! It was more like a rub in a very hot room. What a waste of R700!

My daughter and I spent one night at Tzaneen Country Lodge. Our room (14) was simple, impeccable, and contained all one could ask for - cable TV, hairdryer, tea & coffee making facilities. We looked onto the pool - really pretty with an outside "lapa", there are actually two on the property. The buffet dinner was delicious, with a venison pie and gravy I am not about to forget! Breakfast was served outside on the terrace, charming. The staff is delightful throughout. We had several spa treatments, very professional...and at affordable rates. The Manager, Marga Hagens, did everything to make our stay very special. I noted that, for families with young children, there is an animal farm, and all sorts of entertainement such as jumping castle etc. The grounds are lovely with lush vegetation and indigenous flowers. This is an easy drive from Tzaneen, and close to many game reserves. A lovely place to stop and chill!
