I spent a night in this beautiful place surrounded by a 9 holes golf course, I was on business visit alone with a couple of my southafrican clients. The check-in took place quickly and I was granted a 5* stay at The Village, from the lobby it takes long by walk and you must go by golf car....., when I got into my room I thought I really was in a 5* or luxury, well appointed room, comfortable king size bed, huge bathroom with. bathtub and a large shower, everything, but, first surprise, the fridge was empty, not even a bottle of water, the TV did not work, the next morning it took 30 mn. to get two fried eggs with bacon and, listen, listen, 45 mn. to sort out a bill simply because I wanted to offer the night dinner and I simply asked to charge the whole dinner on my room bill, the guy in charge couldn't sort out and we had to ask the help of a lady of te office to fix it.....a clear example of a gorgeous structure with a very poor management.

i have stayed at fairview three times already...as this is the only place the agency got in the area. first time there was a weeding they booked a business class client in the middle of the weeding where everybody made noice. second time the taps were leaking and phones not working. as i travel a lot a dont take breakfast but ask for a breakfast pack...twice now when i left...there were nothing. the first night the guy on duty was sleeping...the second time (friday) everything was locked. i just left the key on their front door...pathetic i would say for a hotel...and not cheap by the way...price does not matter if the service is better. i would NOT recomend Fairview.

Room Tip: if you want a leaking bath...room 2!!!!

Our 3 night stay at Farieview Hotel was a wonderful experience. Everything was just great!
The room was perfect and we really felt to be home - it was just perfect! (See room advice))
The staff was very helpful, friendly and really spoiled us. Also the food was excellent! As foreigner we love meet - there was no fillet steak on the menu - but the kitchen-crew prepared it specially for us. It was delicious! Also the breakfast buffet was stunning....what a treat! I just can say: we got spoiled and no wish remained open.
The area of Tzaneen is absolutely different to what we had seen during our several travels through SA. Here you can explore the "fruit basket of SA " nearly nothing that not would grow there. From bananas, avocados, lychees, tea, etc. - just different from all other places. For golfers: Tzaneen has a great golf corse: 1 to 9 = slopes and hill to hill - quite difficult. 10 to 18 = flat but tricky.

Room Tip: There are 3 typs of room. All have about the same price (excluding the 5 star rooms down at the vil...

My husband and I attended a wedding held at the Fairview Hotel in March 2014. The venue for the venue was beautiful but what an awful experience with the accommodation! What a disappointing visit we had to Fairview in Tzaneen. The 4 star room we had in the Village section was dirty and run down and had an awful smell. The paint was coming off the walls, the surfaces where unclean and we found someone else's old clothes in the cupboard when we arrived. After discovering odd looking pellets in the room I asked if maintenance could check the room. While they checked the room I asked if this was really 4 star and they said yes because it had 2 twin beds and so met the criteria. I was shocked. To cut a long story short, we could not subject ourselves and our small child to the awful smell and the dirty rooms and decided not to spend the night and rather went to find other accommodation because we were told the lodge was fully booked.

We received a call from their PR people the next day and they were kind enough to apologise for our bad experience. I hope that they do some serious upgrades to the village rooms they are definitely not 4 star in the state that they are in.

My wife and I have regularly dined here in the past and particularly enjoy the fact that Cedrick, the head chef and great host always personally greets the patrons and ensures their requested dishes live up to their expectations. Food portions are ample and they also have a great range of exciting and pertinent wines.

As someone who tends to notice the decor in restaurants, I was pleasantly surprised by the art works gracing the walls. A lot of effort has obviously been put into creating a unique atmosphere.

Fairview restaurant is a very worthwhile option.

The waiter was uninformed and useless. The wine list is poor. The food was awful. We waited for 20 minutes for coffee which never arrived. We had to beg for the bill! (which was wrong!) Altogether a miserable experience!

Do not allow negative comments to put you off. The chalets are great, the staff friendly and helpfull, the food at the restaurant excellent food. Prices are reasonable, and the golf course is challenging, but great fun. We will definitely return.
