Royal Sheba Guesthouse
Ranked #2 of 12 Barberton B&B and Inns
Reviewed 9 June 2014

I slept over 2 nights for working purposes. I was a bit dissapointed. It is not 4star quality. More 3star ont the max. Very basic. Old furniture and old look. If you want something modern, pass this one. However everything was clean and the breakfast was moderate. I will not come back again.

Room Tip: Rooms are in the main house

Stunning guest house! The bedrooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast was awesome and the staff were friendly and helpful! There is a beautiful garden and a cozy quaint pub with a 60 year old snooker table! We will definitely return!

Your manager and staff were extremely hospitable. loved your rooms just needed more toilet soap though. In a beautiful quiet area. It's a pity you don't have a variety of restuarants. The town seems to "close" by eight at night. Overall though we had n awesome experience. Definitely will come back

collected money in advance for 4 nights despite the fact that we booked for 3.
When we asked for a refund they said that they had to retain an amount to cover the commission they have to pay to the advertising agent which total rubbish. As everybody knows commissions are not the customer / visitor / guest problem.
to our email asking for a refund they answered "good luck"!!!!!

accomodation is definately not 4 stars!!! maybe 1

Royal Sheba Guesthouse is under new ownership. Could you perhaps be so kind as to remove your post as this has nothing to do with new owners and makes our rating very low. Will be much appreciated. Dawn

I booked this accommodation using one of the South African websites which rated this as 4-star. We had already stayed in a number of 4-star B&Bs on our travels in South Africa and this definitely didn't make the grade. In fact many 3-stars were much better.

The best thing about it was that it was easy to find being well sign-posted. Once we arrived we had to wait outside whilst one of the guests found the owner. The room, which I had been told on booking was the 'honeymoon suite', had a toilet in one corner, behind a screen, and a shower in another (not en-suite as I know it). It was fairly clean and quite comfortable but certainly didn't live up to our expectations of luxury from the description and pictures that we had seen.

There was air-conditioning but there were so many windows (all of which were open when we arrived) behind so many curtains that it wasn't until the next morning that I found several hidden away that I hadn't shut.

The swimming pool (described as blue and sparkling) didn't look like it had been cleaned in a while and although it was fairly hot we wouldn't have wanted to swim in it.

A big disappointment.

Breakfast was fine but we were the only ones in the dining room.

If we hadn't paid in advance we would probably have found somewhere else to stay - which probably wouldn't have been difficult in Barberton as there is not a lot going on.
