I booked this accommodation using one of the South African websites which rated this as 4-star. We had already stayed in a number of 4-star B&Bs on our travels in South Africa and this definitely didn't make the grade. In fact many 3-stars were much better.
The best thing about it was that it was easy to find being well sign-posted. Once we arrived we had to wait outside whilst one of the guests found the owner. The room, which I had been told on booking was the 'honeymoon suite', had a toilet in one corner, behind a screen, and a shower in another (not en-suite as I know it). It was fairly clean and quite comfortable but certainly didn't live up to our expectations of luxury from the description and pictures that we had seen.
There was air-conditioning but there were so many windows (all of which were open when we arrived) behind so many curtains that it wasn't until the next morning that I found several hidden away that I hadn't shut.
The swimming pool (described as blue and sparkling) didn't look like it had been cleaned in a while and although it was fairly hot we wouldn't have wanted to swim in it.
A big disappointment.
Breakfast was fine but we were the only ones in the dining room.
If we hadn't paid in advance we would probably have found somewhere else to stay - which probably wouldn't have been difficult in Barberton as there is not a lot going on.
