It was a pleasure to return to the Garden House.
This time we had the joy of being in the cottage although the room in the house itself is very nice indeed.
The layout and furnishing are very much first rate with space to wallow and relax, especially in the bathroom.
One of the highlights is the breakfast which is both beautifully presented and fantastic in terms of content. I really enjoyed the “local” touches of smoked trout and delicious croissants.
Both Annette and Barry are remarkably “hands-on” and helped us with bookings throughout our stay in Franschhoek which are always recommended given its place a gastronomic centre within the Winelands. As a result of chatting to Annette, we reacquainted ourselves with Delaire (watch out for the R38 750ml mineral water though!) and found a couple of new “finds” in La Brasserie and Café BonBon.
The situation, comfort and care would be enough for many but for me, it’s the character and “can-do” nature of the hosts that mark this out as a Cape superlative; indeed, if I were John Platter, then this would be a Five Star vineyard without any shadow of a doubt.More
