We stayed one night but would have lived tostay longer. After a long winding drive through the vrede en lust estate you have an amazing view from cathbert. Westayed in the luxury suite and despite their being many good restauraunt choices in nearby franschoek, we stayed and we were so glad we did. The dinner was unforgettable and then being able to stroll back to the room made it all the more enjoyable. Aubry was a faultless host throughout our stay and we look forward to coming back again. The only exception was that the pool wasn't cleaned and had lots of foliage in it, but it was only a minor detraction, in oct I don't expect they thought anyone was brave enough to swim!!

Aubrey and the team provide you a stunning location to relax and enjoy the finer things in life. Michelin starred food served with freindliness makes for a superb vacation.
Simply cannoy find a fault with cathberts from the warmest of welcomes to the immaculate cottages , the wine and the food . cannot be questioned.
I am loathed to recommend this place as i would prefer it to be kept secret ! the ambience that is created by the owners and staff brings a smile to your face ,
Paradise.

Room Tip: Executive 2 bed suite was perfect

My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at Cathbert to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. All the people were very friendly and made our stay a very special one. The place has lovely well-maintained gardens and has a lovely view over the mountains. The breakfast was certainly a highlight; very relaxed on the balcony with high quality food and good service.
We expected more of the dinner however. It is a set menue and we felt rushed with the way the food was brought to our table from the one course to the next. Coffee was served while we were still busy with our last glass of wine. We were the only guests the specific night for dinner with all the others at a wedding. For the money spent one can do better at one of the many other restaurants in Paarl/Franschhoek/Stellenbosch.

Picturesque location, makes you wish your wife took pictures. Aubrey, our host, was welcoming and a great conversationalist that explained the region to us well.

The four course meal was definitely worth it.

Everything was great - from our arrival to the departure. The managing couple were great and knew us by name. They also put in extra effort to accommodate our whole family and the special welcome notes made us feel very special. The dinner cooked for us was superb and the steak was as soft as butter. Breakfast was very good and we were sorry to leave. But we will be back!!!
