This was our first visit and it will not be our last! The views are wonderful and the general ambiance makes this one of those really special places that live in the memory long after you return home. The food is really delicious and the breakfast must rate as one of the best anywhere - helped of course by the opportunity to sit out on the balcony and just drink in the view across the vineyard.

The views are outstanding. We had an executive suite with a living area which had a large comfortable sofa and was really well equipped for our stay. The standards of service, accomodation and the highly professional organisation is really World class but in a smaller and friendly environment. Aubrey treats you like a friend and together with the other staff they notice every small thing to make absolutely sure your stay is comfortable and stress free. We ate here twice and we were fed things that I normally avoid on any menu (ostrich and gazpacchio would both get a wide berth from me). There is no choice (though I'm pretty sure if you wanted something different that given notice they'd sort you out) but the cooking is good and flavours and combination well thought through so that I really enjoyed my meals.

We spent two nights at Cathbert Inn and enjoyed everything about it. Sitting on our stoep, with a sundowner, watching the multitude of birds squabbling over 'bathing' order was brilliant. The hosts, staff and the food were all excellent. A perfect place to visit for a relaxing break. No complaints at all.

Have just returned from a two month trip around the Western Cape for us the Cathbert proved to be our most memorable stay we enjoyed it so much that we returned for a second stay. We were accomodated in a newly refurbished cottage decorated with a restrained elegance and very comfortable furnishings. Whats not to like given its idyllic set amongst vineyards , attentive service , wonderful food ...Aubrey and Lynn are attentive hosts who are ready to go the extra mile for their guests , my husband had special dietary needs Aubrey went out of his way to cater for his needs/ tastes. .. in short nothing was too much trouble. Lynn was only to happy to help us with car hire and our onward travel arrangements. We plan to return in the New year and can't wait.

We booked the only cottage tucked away from the main lodge and other rooms because it had a private pool and more privacy. And it was lovely, and quiet, apart from a pesky peacock that would squawk the moment you dropped off in the afternoon heat. But the cottage is quite dated and when we were shown around the splendidly refurbished rooms / suites we were very impressed and would stay in one of them unless the cottage has by then been refurbished. Breakfasts were really good, enjoyed on the stoop. The dining room lacks atmosphere, even some pictures on the walls would help. That said we enjoyed the dinner and Aubrey is a genuinely good host. all in all a lovely peaceful - except the noisy peacock - retreat.

This Inn is lovely for quiet , restful weekends away from the stress of daily life.
Comfortable rooms and very helpful friendly staff with lovely views of surrounding vineyards.
Breakfast gives you a good start to your day.
Must have a car to be able to explore the various wine farms and area.
Probably not so exciting for young kids, however there is a large pool to enjoy in the summer.
Will certainly return.

Breakfast is outstanding serving amongst other items the best french toast I have ever tasted. Service is outstanding and the view wonderful. The rooms are spacious but not OTT. I would certainly recommend this to all those looking for tranquility, quality coupled to value.
