We have now stayed at The Villas 3 times and every time has been great. These thatched cottages are perfect for 2 adults and 2 children - with spacious, clean, large and stylish bedrooms and lounge/kitchen. The staff are incredibly helpful and its great to have all of hotel facilities to hand - especially the lovely pool. In a great, quiet location the villas make a great base for a trip to Franschhoek.

We like to use the town of Franschhoek as a base to do some wine tasting and eat some good food. This spot is perfect for that. Clean, neat, comfortable, air-con, smack dab in the middle of some really good food and wine venues. Or you know, if you ever needed a place to overnight after a wedding or summat. We loved it. The Dish and Le Verger restaurants are fantastic. If you want you can pop into the bar area at the hotel for a drink/cocktail if you don't want to venture out and prefer to just use the well equipped kitchen in your unit.

My wife and I spent 5 weeks in a magnificent villa here in January/February. Not only was the location and the villa itself superb; the staff-in particular Tanya and Inge who look after Reception-are incredibly helpful and so genuinely caring. They couldn't do enough for us and we came to regard them as friends. The support staff, including the cleaners, are also first class and the owner's representative, Neil, who is in charge of all property matters (including the Hotel) is there every day, leading the great team.

The situation of the Villas is breathtakingly beautiful, out in the country and surrounded by mountains, yet only a 2 minutes drive from Franschhoek village and it's 5 star restaurants.

This year was our 10th (out of the last 11years) holiday in Franschhoek and was simply the best because of where we were staying and the quality and friendliness of the staff. My wife and I usually vary our accommodation (and we have stayed in many fine places) but we won't be doing that any more because The Villas has spoilt us for anywhere else. Can't wait to return!

My wife and I stayed at the Villas for 2 nights during a recent trip to the Franschhoek wine area. The accommodations are really top notch. We were fortunate to be given a 2 bedroom unit which comprised a large kitchen/dining/living area on the ground floor plus spacious patio area and powder room. 2 bedrooms on the second floor with 2 bathrooms and another balcony. The villas would be a great place for a family to spend time - space for all.
The villas all have gardens attached and private parking areas and are located in a stunning position with lovely gardens all around and circled by the mountains.
They are located just a short drive outside of the town which is a lovely spot on the map. It is picturesque and completely devoted to all things wine. Many top-notch restaurants, wineries galore and enough boutique style shops to warm any woman's heart.
Stellenbosch is not too far away but is considerably bigger than Franschhoek . For our money Franschhoek was absolutely the right place to stay in the winelands and the villas at Le Franschoek the perfect spot to sleep. One niggle on this point - we found the mattress to be very hard and, for us, not conducive to a good night's sleep.
Breakfast is not provided at the villas as they are run separately from the hotel. There are many places in town to enjoy an al fresco breakfast. There is also a café (Café Bon Bon) just a couple of minutes down the road which we did not visit but which looked inviting.
The help from the reception desk during the stay and by e-mail when making the booking was also excellent.

I was fortunate enough to stay here for a week at the start of December 2013 and it was just beautiful. The villa was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. We had a whole villa with two bedrooms which was perfect as there were three of us (two bathrooms and two bedrooms upstairs and toilet, open plan lounge, kitchen, dinning downstairs). Each morning I would have my coffee on the balcony soaking up the view of the Franschhoek mountains. It was just so relaxing and stress free.

The garden of the villa was stunning full of delicate pink and white roses with lots of butterflies. All the gardens around the properties are beautifully kept.

I would hope to return to Franschhoek again and if I do, this is where I would stay.

Highly recommend the wine tram tour - great fun and a good way to see the area. Other highlights included lunch at La Petite Ferme, coffee and cakes at La Motte, lunch at The Rickety Bridge, bread making at Bread and Wine, the Huguenot museum and the car musuem (a few miles from the centre, but worth the drive). There are so many other amazing places too I could go on and on, it's a wonderful place for a holiday.

Once you find the Villas (signage from the road is inadequate unless you have realised that the Villas are actually part of the Relais & Chateaux 'Le Franschoek'), you are sold on the property. Each villa is one of two. Ours had wonderful views of surrounding mountains and was beside a babbling brook. Each villa has a living room/kitchen, bathroom, separate toilet, bedroom and huge veranda. The only down side is that the bedroom is tiny - design issue since there is plenty of space overall. Each villa is fully equipped for self catering. You have access to some services in the main hotel which is 50-100 metres away including the restaurant provided you book in time (we couldn't eat breakfast there when asking for a booking the night before). The concierge at the hotel (via the Villas' reception) arranged a car (R240) to get to the restaurant we had reserved in town - about 3 kms away. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Room Tip: They all seem good although probably an upstairs one is best - they are all one of a pair, one up...
