“Expectation met!”

After much research I decided to spend our solitary night in Franschhoek at EL.
(An overnighter from CT)

I booked 2 rooms for my visiting friend (from London) and myself.
The previous reviews were 100% correct about Cecilia- a Most kind and helpful host.
From the moment we unintentionally arrived after hours (We're still sorry Cecelia) until we left after the brilliant breakfast, she was unwavering in making our stay as comfortable as possible.
In fact from my 1st enquiry.. Thank You!

The property looks even better in the flesh and I think some additional photos would only assist the reviews.

I have nothing to compare it with in Franschhoek but wouldn't go anywhere else when I return- which will be December!

Room Tip: Ask Cecilia! Given it was a little cool I was delighted to find under floor heating throughout as we...

This beautiful fairy-tale cottage will definitely introduce you to a different way of living on the planet! It snuggles so comfortably and so unpretentiously into the natural landscape abutting the De Vasselot section of the Tsitsikama National Park. The views of Peak Formosa and the Tsitsikama range of mountains is nothing short of breathtaking, seen over thousands of hectares of indigenous fynbos and forests. It's a place for reflection, bird-watching, tree-hugging and getting back in touch with your senses in the natural world. Accommodation is simple, uncomplicated, comfortable and charming. Self-catering. Take books, binoculars, hiking boots, and paints - for you'll surely be inspired by the magic of the surroundings. There are easy hikes to Salt River Mouth near to Nature's Valley - and if you're lucky you might spot bushbuck, otters, the Knysna loerie, and many other treasures on your way. It's the perfect place to unwind, practice yoga, and meet likeminded people.

We spent the last 3 nights of our trip here and what a memory to go back with. Everything about Elephant Lodage is brilliant - fantastic views, extremely helpful staff, lovely breakfasts. We stayed in one of the poolside rooms which was very spacious and comfortably furnished. Cecilia is a great host and had booked restaurants for us in advance of our arrival in case restaurants were fully booked. The pool catches the sun all day long and is very refreshing. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Poolside room was great

A lovely position overlooking vineyards on the outskirts of Franschoek. Beautiful views over the valley. Excellent service, friendly and helpful at all times. The building has character and there is plenty of room. the pool is big enough for the small number of guests, and is in great location for the sun.
Great full breakfast cooked exactly how you want.
Overall could not fault anything about this hotel.
Not approving of some of the animal trophies, but otherwise great stay.

Stayed 2 nights at Elephant Lodge in February and Cecilia and her staff looked after us very well. She managed to find a restaurant for us at short notice which was fantastic and on the Chamonix wine estate itself. The location of the lodge is very special, with beautiful views of the country all around. Wish we had had longer there.

We enjoyed our 3 nights at Elephant lodge in Franschhoek this February. The lodge and surrounding wine yards made a brilliant setting for our romantic stay. And Cecilia and her staff made all our stay successful with her delicate breakfast and ideas for activities in the area. We strongly recommend this lodge for anyone looking for beauty and a nice stay.
