“You'll Never Want to Leave”

We booked 3 nights at La Petite Dauphine and could not have been more pleased. The property is spectacular, the accommodations were great and the service was top notch. We had a one bedroom cottage with nice living area, very comfortable bedroom and great bathroom. Many nice touches like a decanter filled with Port, heated bathroom floors and towel warmers. Breakfast was fantastic with a buffet of fruit, pastries, meats, cheese, juice and your choice of hot entrees. Service was also great. Stefan in reception made dinner reservations, checked on hiking trails and provided answers to every question we had. He even found a large box for us to pack wine and other things purchased. As we were walking back to our room, my wife said to me that we should have borrowed a marker to write our address on the box. No sooner had the said it than someone on the staff came walking up with a marker saying, "Stefan thought you might need this." If you are visiting anywhere near the Cape Town area, do yourself a favor and steal away to La Petite Dauphine. We have traveled to wine regions all over the world and none is as spectacular as Franschoek and you couldn't do better than La Petite Dauphine.

Great accommodation - rooms are spacious with all sorts of luxurious touches; beautiful setting; amazing food at Cafe BonBon.
We spent the first two nights of our honeymoon here and I don't think we could have chosen a more perfect spot.

La Petite Dauphine remains one of our favourite South African destinations and it is a small hotel that we return to time and again. From the moment that you arrive at the imposing entrance up to the time you leave the experience is magical.

Stephan is very efficient at booking a room and then tries to accomodate all the changes that sometimes crop up in travel plans. The rooms are located in the vineyards in one of the most exquisite settings in Franschhoek and the finishes in the rooms are unbelievable. The owners are attentive and the staff well trained, professional and very friendly. All meals at Cafe BonBon turn into memorable experiences and it is tempting to eat every meal there. Marie-Louise endeavours to satisfy every diner and adds to the magic.

If you visit South Africa and you miss La Petite Dauphine you missed one of the greatest pleasures that the country have to offer.

Room Tip: Room 7 is my absolute favourite

I stayed here with my husband for one night as a special treat - and what a special treat it was. The setting is totally private and you are not 'bothered' by anyone. The vineyard is beautiful and invites for walks and, of course wine tasting. As we stayed here on a very cold rainy winter night, we enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine in front of the indoor fire place. The decor is wonderful and the rooms are extremely spacious. Definitely a place where we would go back to any time. Breakfast is delicious and fresh. The continental breakfast has everything you can wish for including home-made muesli and seasonal fruits. The hot breakfast is freshly prepared and you have a choice between the pretty standard breakfasts and some more adventurous options. All in all, we loved it!

Room Tip: They seem to all be beautiful, the Luxury Villas have a private plunge pool, choose those when you c...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this guest farm amongst the vineyards of Franschhoek. Stefan welcomed us and directed us to our cottage. The room we stayed in was huge and came with a fireplace which we put to good use given the atrocious weather during our stay (not our hosts' fault!).

We were also offered a selection of DVD's which helped while the heavens opened up outside. We were there in the colder months and while no doubt it is far prettier in summer with views of the surrounding mountains, the resort was exceptionally quiet and peaceful during our stay.

Breakfast was at Cafe Bon Bon and as we were there out of season we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. Again if you are not put off by rain and want some peace and quiet, don't write off going in winter.

Special mention must go to Marie-Louise. We enquired where we could buy Koeksisters (a S. African delicacy) in town, and she went to the trouble of making them herself with her compliments. While I would doubt she can do this for all her guests, this little extra favour speaks volumes for the positive attitude, respect and attention to detail that this resort seeks to offer its guests.

Stefan also gave us a complimentary bottle of their in-house olive oil on checkout. We have yet to try it out but I am sure it won't disappoint.

The only very minor point I would make is that our unit had chairs and table outside on both sides of the unit. While the seating facing the car was covered, the seating facing the lawns, pond and mountains was not, so we were not able to sit outside and enjoy the tranquility of the resort while it was raining.

But, besides that, I would recommend this resort for your next visit to Franschhoek. It is only two minutes outside the town centre, and being amongst the vineyards, draws on what the region is most famous for.

BEST hotel/b&b/lodging in which we've ever stayed. We arrived for three days on our honeymoon, and LPD left us both wishing we could just cancel the rest of our itinerary and stay for another week...

LPD has thought of literally everything, and we could not find the slightest fault. It rained every day we were there (in June), and yet we could not have been happier, as it made our visit super-cosy, even to the point of us choosing to forego the well renown restaurants in Franschoek only down the road, opting to stay in with our wood-burning stove, huge comfortable bed, absolutely fabulous bathroom with lovely stand-alone bath and all the amenities.

LPD's excellent breakfast, served at its also first-class restaurant Cafe Bon Bon, has now stolen the prize for my favourite breakfast ever encountered in years of travel. It is amazing to have found the best eggs benedict royale served at the best lodging in the entire country...if not world. We eagerly looked forward to our breakfasts every single day,...

Even more, the entire staff, down to the resident rooster Hendrick, we're unbelievably kind and made us feel as if we were visiting family. We left genuinely wishing we did not have to, and promising to one another that we would return to South Africa just to stay at this very special place...

My husband and I stayed in spacious chalet 4 and had a wonderful time. The picturesque setting was a feast for the eyes and pure luxury. I enjoyed laying on the back porch reading and the self served espresso was lovely. The fire place added to the ambiance and our chalet was walking distance to cafe BonBon for breakfast and lunch. We wish we stayed longer and will definitely visit again. Thank you!
