Description: The historical estate of Allée Bleue is nestled at the foot of the majestic Drakenstein Mountains in the Franschhoek Valley. Allée Bleue is known to be one of the oldest yet most characteristic farms in the Cape, producing internationally award winning wines. Our offering on the estate includes boutique accommodation and a Bistro that offers an appetising menu with old classics and newly created herb inspired dishes. Seasonal picnics are very popular under our great oak tree. Allée Bleue is the ideal location to host stylish weddings, trendsetting events and family celebrations.

We decided to try Bistro Allee Bleue for my sister in law's 40th birthday lunch. We were a party of 8 with two children and the restaurant was quite busy. We waited a very long time for our food and when it arrived it was quite disappointing. I ordered a lamb wrap from the mains menu (there was a starters/light meals menu too) and it was a tiny portion. The greens looked as though they had been prepared in the morning and the cucumber with bulgarian yoghurt was oversalted. I have had better wraps at Mugg&Bean. My brother in law did not even bother to eat his fillet, it was of such poor quality! While our waitress was lovely, the hostess was unfriendly and unhelpful. She ignored us for most of the afternoon. I was really disappointed!

We visited Allee Bleue on a mild summer day. We chose to visit the picnic area instead of the restraint as we had two young children with us. The whole experience was very good they had enough enterianment for the young kids and the picnic basket was nice. Would recommend it to anyone with young kids that want to take them out somewhere without having to tell them to be quite the whole day.

Not sure whether I would head out deliberately to go here - it's sort of between places - but as a stopover from Paarl to Franschhoek, it's a worthwhile lunch venue. And a lot better food than Boschendal, just up the road.

Lunch is just to the right as you drive in. Not enough salads on the menu, but a nice choice. Wine oriented to Allee Bleu as you might expect, but that's fair enough.

Serice charming and quite well prices overall.

We went to the Allee Bleue to celebrate a friends birthday. We were seated on grass in a pleasant walled area containing a pond (formally a cattle drinking trough). The fare was basically a well appointed picnic basket per couple for a set fee. Our friends wife does not eat meat so they each had an individual basket, each of which contained most of what was in our shared basket!

The food was acceptable and the surroundings lovely. One bit of excitement though ~ a single gust of wind materialised blowing away the substantial umbrella. It was however very pleasant and no muzak!

Beautiful setting and friendly, attentive service (beat many other places where we stopped by). We very much enjoyed our picnic here which consisted of four wines (2 white, 2 red) and a large selection of patees, breads, salads and desserts. All the food was good quality and tasty. This place seemed much friendlier and personable than some of the other vineyards. Also they were flexible and served food later than other places so you didn't need to rush. Great, relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
