“Right at the Top of the Class”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2010

We ate at Bistro Allee Bleue, the former gate lodge that has been beautifully laid out and furnished. Lots of money has been spent on the infrastructure, and it has clearly also been spent on acquiring and training the right staff. The welcome is warm and the service attentive from the start. As clients, we felt that we were the centre of attention and that meeting our needs was paramount. We were offered choices from three blackboards - a R99 steak special, a R150 table d'hote, and a standard menu. The range of choices was excellent, and wine was included with the 'specials'. On this occasion, we had the steak specials, which were large and perfectly cooked. The wine offered was just right. At all times, we felt that management and staff were concerned to ensure that we were satisfied clients, and this was confirmed by a visit from the chef. We returned a few days later to coffee and muffins, and received the same quality and attention. Highly recommended. Goes right to the top of the class in the gourmet capital!
