Le Quartier Francais
Ranked #7 of 11 Hotels in Franschhoek
Certificate of Excellence

Every now and then, you find a special and quaint place that you can revisit over and over again! Le Quartier Francais in Franschhoek is just that...the service is excellent, food is scrumptious, the warmth of the employees (be it management to kitchen staff) is something very special. We reside in Cape Town, so to take a break from the city, we end up at the Le Quartier when we get the urge to be pampered! I recommend this very sweet and lovely a thousand times over.

An oasis of calm in the centre of Franschhoek . Beautifully appointed room, on the first floor , with every amenity from complimentary cordial and snacks to luxury toiletries. There is a large lending library of dvds and books for you to borrow if you wish . Very efficient and friendly service . Excellent and artistically presented breakfast. We ate very good tapas in the common room, and had a gourmet 9 course meal with wine in the tasting room - I have to say I wasn't keen on some of the food that was on offer there but it was definately a culinary experience ! There are many good restaurants and cafes within walking distance as well as many interesting shops, however Franschhoek is a small village and you could easily see all it has to offer in a day, you really need to have a car to visit the lovely vineyards and restaurants in the surrounding area.

Room Tip: rooms on the first floor have more privacy than the ground floor rooms,

We stayed 2 nights with our 2 daughters on a package that included breakfast, dinner at both the common room and the tasting room, and lunch at moresons. What a truly magical way to experience Franschhoek and the wine region in south Africa for the first time. Nothing was overlooked or forgotten, and we were made to feel like truly valued guests both in the hotel and the restaurants. We stayed in the House suite. Perfect for children with their own bedroom upstairs in the loft, and also a private pool - of course the girls had to try both to be sure which one was better! I cannot only recommend le quartier to visitors to franchhoek but also say you would be truly missing out if you do not try all it has to offer through all the restaurants. We have even bought some of the charcuterie from Moresons for a picnic on the next leg of our trip, so the dream continues. Two days was not nearly enough. Also a very special mention of Harry in The Tasting Room, he is a fantastic asset, and it was a privilege to have you guide us through our meal there. We have had some wonderful dining experiences, but Harry's warmth and friendliness tok it to another level. Bravo Le Quartier, we will dream about the day we can return.

Wow! Wow! Wow!

Staff - friendly and knowledgeable

Food - a fantastic surprise - we didn't expect to have such innovative, local and tasty food.

I drove, my partner had the additional wine accompaniment, but that didn't spoil the experience. It was one of our last nights in South Africa, and it was a joy to eat at Le Quartier Francais. I won't tell you what we ate, as that would spoil the surprise.

My advice is to go and enjoy.

My only criticism was the tasting room decor. A bit minimal with no theme, but the food kept us more than occupied. With each new course came new tastes, all local and all intriguing.

Get there before everyone else does!!

Great boutique hotel. Very quiet place. Rooms are very cozy and luxurious. Very comfortable bed. Complimentary bottle of wine was included. Very cozy living room with a fireplace. Very romantic. The bathrooms were big, clean and modern looking. Separate shower and bathtub.
The hotel has 2 restaurants, which are pretty good. There is a swimming pool in the center of the complex, but did not have a chance to use since i went during the winter. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, romantic escape.

I stayed at the Four Quarters for the night. It was absolutely stunning. The room was kitted out to the max. Hot water bottles at the bottom of our bed in the evenings, such a spoiling. The staff were very kind, helpful and friendly. We had a magical night and I know that anyone else who stays at Le Quartier will love it.
