This is a lovely inn, really a cluster of several buildings with a lovely pool in the courtyard. The room was pleasant and the setting is lovely. Wonderful service. Franschhoek is a charming little town in the wine lands.

We stayed here for a couple of days over our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. We were surprised by how intimate and peaceful the experience was. We loved our garden room, with a private garden. We enjoyed laying at the pool while staring out at stunning mountain views. We enjoyed a 2 hour couples massage at the spa where we were actually taught how to massage one another! We also really enjoyed just strolling around the lovely, quaint, surrounding town of Franschhoek with so many stores and restaurants. We had already gone on various wine tours prior to arriving so, we appreciated just having some relaxing time to ourselves. The breakfast at the hotel was great as was the tapas lunch that we had at the hotel's lounge. We had a reservation booked in advance at The Tasting Room for dinner, which is located at the hotel. This CANNOT be missed! It was truly the most unique and delicious meal that we've ever had. I would definitely recommend the 8-course meal (over the 5) and to include the wine pairings. The food and wines were amazing, the waiters were so knowledgable and personable and all of the tables were facing the window as to watch the incredible sunset over the mountaintops!

Room Tip: We had a Garden Room which we loved but I imagine that all of the rooms are unique and lovely. They...

An extremely relaxing place to stay, a lovely room (free wifi) with a small private garden, right next to the pristine pool. The gardens were beautiful with the backdrop of the mountains. Sadly we were there on a Monday and Tuesday, so the restaurant was closed, but we ate well just round the corner on one evening, and enjoyed tapas in the outside courtyard the next. I enjoyed the fruit and cereals at breakfast, though my husband was disappointed with the lack of crusty bread and marmalade!

Franschhoek itself is a supremely beautiful place with a backdrop of marvelous mountains coming down to a plain, packed with high quality vineyards. A senior BBC correspondent described it as 'little more than an overgrown village, yet having five of the best restaurants in Africa'!

Le Quartier Francais is one of these. We did not actually try the restaurant ourselves as we were coming to the end of a quite long gourmet trip and a hint of moderation was slipping into our vocabulary! That said, our fellow residents raved about it at breakfast.

Breakfast itself was a delight with a huge range of delectable produce, all immaculately presented. The scrambled eggs were freshly cooked, light and fluffy. Virtually anything could be ordered from the kitchen. Probably the best breakfast we have come across anywhere.

The bedroom was large and included everything one could wish for. The ensuite bathroom was similarly large with an excellent wet-room style shower area. If I was being particularly 'picky' then I might have liked a little more illumination in the bedroom, though this is probably more of a reflection on my eyesight! Our room overlooked a lovely pool area surrounded by high quality loungers and immediate availability of jugs of cool (mint or lemon) flavoured water.

The staff were absolutely delightful and could not have been more helpful. The owners have a vineyard a few miles down the road. At lunchtimes there is an excellent restaurant serving a range of quite light dishes, to be accompanied by their own wines. The hotel will happily transport you to and from this venue. Sitting there, shaded from the sun by vines reminded me very much of being in a lovely Provencal restaurant.

This is a seriously good hotel, beautifully managed and supported by delightful staff. We were sorry to leave. It is now probably our favourite hotel, anywhere in the world.

Room Tip: I suspect that there isn't a bad room

We stayed at QF for two nights in January 2014. What we liked about it was
* the welcome and the helpfulness of the staff. We had been booked into the Delicious hotel but it had been flooded so we were pleasantly suprised and then delighted to be upgraded
* the frienliness of the other guests. We spent a lot of time chatting about where to go and what to do in Franschooek
* the amazing breakfasts and breakfast room - like something out of an Art House movie
* the wine tasting and lunch at Moreson's vinyard - lovely setting
* Franschhoek itself - a delightful town

Room Tip: Ours was lovely

We had the most wonderful breakfast at Le Quartier Francais in Franschhoek. The food was delicious and fresh, the presentation was perfect and it was actually extremely reasonable. We'll be back very soon.
