The gardens are charming and so colourful - really disappointed we were just too late to see all the agapanthus in flower. Perhaps early to mid Feb would have been better.

I have always admired this memorial.

The location could not be bettered, facing across the T junction at the end of the main street, against a backdrop of trees and mountains.

The monument is perfect in scale & execution, in the foreground is a large reflective pond, all set within a charming simple garden.

If you can, take a little time there for yourself

Pause for a while, reflect on the Huguenots who arrived circa 1690 to early 1700's, driven from Europe by religious persecution, there were only some 300 of them but they largely created the Franschhoek valley of today and contributed greatly to the future South Africa.

A serene and peaceful place!!
