A beautiful, serene and tranquil setting, well worth the very reasonable ticket price. Take time to wonder around, enjoy the stunning beauty of the surrounding mountains and don't miss a visit to the museum just across the car park.

I did not experience the museum but the centuries-old cemetery is very cool to walk through and open to the public. Lots of good photos set against the mountains and valley scenery.

If you are interested in the history of the French Huguenots, and in turn the history of South Africa, then the Huguenot Memorial Monument is a definite must-see while you're in Franschhoek. It is at the top of Huguenot Road (one of the main roads of Franschhoek), you definitely can't miss it. Next door is the museum, which further explains the historical significance of the Huguenots and of Franschhoek.

A small entrance fee is charged, at the time of our visit it was R 10.00 per person.
