“2nd visit”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Took my wife here for her first time (I came once before on a school tour). Lovely historical and spiritual place. Tranquil and peaceful. It is middle of winter now, but in summer, could sit here with a blanket and just be one with God.

“OK, but you could pass it up.”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Open to the public. Unless you have a particular interest in the story of the Huguenots, you might not find this memorial to be a must-see. It has a museum which we did not enter. The grounds are nice and the surrounding mountains are impressive.

“Serene”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

A beautiful, serene and tranquil setting, well worth the very reasonable ticket price. Take time to wonder around, enjoy the stunning beauty of the surrounding mountains and don't miss a visit to the museum just across the car park.

“Cool Cemetery!”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

I did not experience the museum but the centuries-old cemetery is very cool to walk through and open to the public. Lots of good photos set against the mountains and valley scenery.

“Franschhoek must-see for tourists”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

If you are interested in the history of the French Huguenots, and in turn the history of South Africa, then the Huguenot Memorial Monument is a definite must-see while you're in Franschhoek. It is at the top of Huguenot Road (one of the main roads of Franschhoek), you definitely can't miss it. Next door is the museum, which further explains the historical significance of the Huguenots and of Franschhoek.

A small entrance fee is charged, at the time of our visit it was R 10.00 per person.
