I have been to Franschhoek several times, but have always just driven past the entrance. It is well worth a visit to understand the history of the valley and the hardship and plight of the Huguenots.
It does put the perspective of some of the larger wine farms and families into context.
Don't forget to also visit the smaller museum over the road
