Owner description: Not much has changed since we've roasted our very first batch of coffee in 2004 on the Terbodore farm in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. Sure, the batches got bigger as word of our coffee spread and our commitment to the craft grew. But despite our pursuit for the perfect cup, our Great Dane, now grey around the muzzle, still has a keener interest in the whereabouts of farm cats rather than the rich, defined flavours of the perfect brew. Still his presence has become symbolic of everything that we strive for the moment we fire up the roaster - heritage, courage, patience and dependability. From the first day we started roasting, we took great care to procure only the finest green coffee beans. Combining skill and patience, we sift and roast our beans, consistently producing coffee we gladly put our name to. We pride ourselves on being one of the most honest coffee brands around, not compromising on the taste and never forgetting who we are. Then there is our companion's courage, something we needed in no short supply to open our second roastery in the Cape Winelands. Thanks to this leap of faith, we can now make our coffee available to connoisseurs around the country - still produced with the same love and meticulous care as we did in 2004. We hope that you enjoy our product and craft as much as we do. Because as artisanal coffee roasters we feel that life is long enough for a slowly percolated cup, even in dog years.

I nearly caused an accident when I saw the distinctive Great Dane logo...well-versed with their Midlands roastery my wife and I screeched to halt in their car park. Disappointed we were not! Stocked up with fresh beans and munched their cakes until I felt sick! A MUST in Franschoek!

“Great coffee with a view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2014

Fantastic coffee in a tranquil setting. Lots of coffee on offer and you can enjoy the views in the garden. We went with a 2 year old child and enjoyed our visit more because of the large kids area the owner of the adjacent vineyard and restaurant has built. We went back twice and thankfully stocked up on the coffee to bring home..

“Superb coffee!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014

Terbodores coffee in the Midlands, KZN is my favourite coffee spot in South Africa so, when passing through Franschoek, I could not miss giving this outlet a visit. I was not disappointed. While the setting is not as tranquil as that in KZN and meals are not on offer, the coffee was superb. A must visit for coffee lovers, for a coffee at the bar/in the garden and to stock up to recreate at home.

“Came across this outlet by chance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

We had stopped for a coffee at The Goederust Farm and were pleasantly surprised to see this coffee roasting outlet in the car park. Thought we would buy some to take home and it turned out to be one of the best coffees we have ever had. It is just a shame that we did not "stock up" with the delicious blend but will be back next year to do so !!

“Coffee lovers delight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014

Can't say any more than all the other reviewers really, but if you love your coffee you have to visit. The owner is so passionate about the beans and can talk about the coffee and his vision while you sit in a quaint bar sipping a fantastic expresso. A must visit.
