A truely amazing place, the staff couldn't do enough for us, they were polite and attentive through out. Our rooms were lovely, large airey and clean with crisp white cotton bed linen. We ate at the restaraunt and the food was excellent. The hotel is set in a quiet town surrounded by mountains, well worth a visit for tranquility, luxury and R&R.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during our 2-week ZA-trip.
As we were travelling with our little daughter (2 years) we had been looking for a nice place with a pool and a good restaurant in the house - in babyphone distance.
I found the place on the web and booked online.

We were delighted from the beginning! They gave us a beautiful, spacy room above the kitchen (no noise or odors) with a little cod for our toddler and even a teddy-bear present.
The service was very good and they tried to cater every need.
It's located in walking distance to the town center and it's save to walk, too.

The food in the restaurant is good and far above average for the ZA (which is not a culinary dreamland) and we could enjoy some quite cocktails at the bar with our little one quitely sleeping in the room just a 1 floor away. Perfect.

I can definitely recommend this hotel to anyone at it is worth it's price (not cheap!). We'll be back for longer next time!

This hotel was absolutely fantastic if you want to visit the Winelands area of South Africa. The rooms are set amongst gardens filled with waterfalls, lavender and lemons and smell heavenly. The rooms are large and the service in all areas of the hotel was excellent. There are two nice swimming pools, one heated, and the restaurant food was fantastic. Our waiter, Emile was also able to keep my husband up to date with all of the English football scores (not necessarily a bonus for me).! The hotel also recommended a wine tour run by a local lady, Christa, who was brilliant - well informed, fun and we had a brilliant morning with her after which we knew alot more about while and were quietly sozzled. Franschhoek is a beautiful village with upmarket shops and restaurants set in a lovely velley surrounded by huge mountains. DEFINITELY stay here if you can - we'll be returning as soon as we can.

We had a really lovely stay here. Their accommodation is really good with all the expected amenities, airconditioning really welcome as it was very hot

The staff was really good and helpful with our special requests

We have to single out their restaurant as one of the best we enjoyed while travelling to South Africa - a talented chef and very good service. We ate at some of the other famous restaurant in town and although they were also good, the Monneaux Restaurant was the best.

The grounds are lovely with a beautiful pool setting and once again great staff attending to us .

Breakfast was just wonderful!

In short this was a well run hotel without being too "formal"!

We will defintiely return and can recommend it highly.

Our friends and ourselves (travelling as two couples and celebrating our respective 30th wedding anniversaries) selected this hotel from an internet search and booked to stay in two of the relatively new villa suites for the first 3 nights of our first visit to South Africa. We arrived at the hotel after the long overnight flight from the UK and a 90 minute drive from Cape Town airport, only to find that they had no reservation for us, despite us having all the usual accomodation vouchers. The hotel director Jean-Pierre Snyman treated this as a personal crusade to resolve matters despite having absolutely no obligation to do so. Having checked matters out with both our UK and SA travel companies it transpired that all of our SA accomodation (4 different hotels) had been cancelled in error. Jean-Pierre managed to fit us in to the Country House villa suites (after re-arranging another 1 night booking for other clients) and with all of our other accomodation fully booked, liased with the agents until suitable alternative accomodation had been found. We found the hotel to be truly wonderful and the suites absolutely magnificent - they are enormous in size and contain every conceiveable luxury. The Monneaux is a superb restaurant and bears strong comparison with the multitude of other high quality restaurants in Fransschhoek . This is a fabulous hotel, which we would have no hesitation in recommending to others; in addition the overall service standards are excellent and as for Jean-Pierre, we cannot praise him and his team high enough. Thank you guys.

  • Liked — Villa suite rooms were superb size with every possible luxury
  • Disliked — Nothing
  • Tips/Secrets — Go for a villa suite as opposed to a room in the main hotel; the extra expense is well worth it.
