My partner and I arrived in the afternoon of 10th January and the first thing i fell in love with were, surprisingly, the lemons; they were everywhere. The room had this romantic furniture and it was regularly cleaned. The view of the mountains from the room did it for my partner and I, it felt like paradise on earth. Do not miss a chance to experience this when in Franschhoek.

In January 2011 my new bride and I spent 2 weeks of our honeymoon in South Africa. One of the highlights was certainly staying at the Franschhoek Country House Hotel. Our only regret was that we only stayed for 1 day.

All the facilities were superb and the restaurant was just fantastic. I had the mussels with a Thai red curry and I think it was one of the best meals that I had in South Africa.

There are lots of other amazing restaurants right next door and some beautiful wine estates.

One day we will come back and make sure we stay for longer.

We had chosen this hotel not knowing fully what to expect and were staying 6 nights.
We had a lovely spacious villa and were very pleased with the accommodation, restaurant, friendly staff and excellent facilities. The hotel is close to the lovely town of Franshhoek and we would certainly recommend it to others.

I have stayed in many beautiful places all over the world but never before have I experienced the kind of hospitality we received on arrival at Franschhoek Country House - the sort of reception one would normally only receive from family. We arrived early in the morning after a long & fairly sleepless flight from UK and obviously our assigned room was not yet available but we were immediately shown to another luxurious room so that we could take a nap and shower. Excellent first impression! The rest of the week did not disappoint. The hotel is ideally situated at the edge of this charming town making walking in a pleasure although a complimentary car was available at all times. The setting is stunning, edging on to vineyards backed by mountains, the gardens peaceful and beautifully kept and all maintenance issues promptly dealt with. Our every need was anticipated and met without us ever feeling overwhelmed. We had one of the 2 Garden Cottages which was very pretty, spacious, beautiful views, 2 terraces and a small private garden with sun loungers AND something I've never enjoyed in an hotel before - a caffetiere with ground coffee!!
It takes a lot of hard work to keep a place like this up to such a high standard and there seemed to be many staff meetings which resulted in great teamwork and genuine care.
We ate at the Monneaux a few times and thought the ambience and food excellent, equalling or surpassing other local restaurants.
We loved SA and hope to return and would definitely choose the Country House and Villas again (maybe save up for a few nights in the sumptuous villas!) And, Oh yes! - those breakfasts - reports NOT exaggerated - the best anywhere!
Thank you to all here for leaving us with such warm memories!

We had a standard deluxe room which was stunning. On our first night we had just had a huge lunch on route so unfortunately we didn't get to eat at the restaurant but had room service and sat on our balcony. The service was excellent and nothing too much trouble. The staff brought matches for us to light some candles and we had a very romantic meal, overlooking the lovely grounds. The hotel is in a great location. Perfect for exploring the local wine estates. We had lunch on our last day on the terrace and the food was very good and good value. One thing that shone out and we have to say this about our whole stay in South Africa, is the people. The staff were so friendly and attentive. I was all for changing our flights and staying longer. Two nights is not enough in this beautiful hotel and fantastic area. Pool area and service around the pool is also exceptional. Unfortunately I didn't have time to try the Spa, but we will go back and I can imagine it would be very good.

We spent 6 nights here at the end of January/ beginning of February.

The experience started with a complimentary upgrade from a deluxe room to a suite! Of course, this was much appreciated! Fantastic accommodation, sublime breakfast, great meals in the Monneaux restaurant. So the bricks and mortar and the kitchen were without fault.

But that's not everything. I am a firm believer in people being the heart of any organisation. Here, the people are absolutely wonderful! Charming and friendly staff who know their jobs (presumaby because they have been very very well trained). No wonder the guest experience is so good! I don't go round the world looking for faults, but this place is so good that I challenged myself to find fault. I am happy to report that I failed! Honestly, Franschhoek Country House, you are the tops!

Thank you so much for your hosptality, professionalism, friendliness, personal service, and everything else. Just brilliant!

I wish I were coming back nest week, but duty calls in the UK. But if I return to Franschhoek, which I hope to do, there are no prizes for guessing where I will be staying!

Thank you so much!

When we arrived we received such a warm welcome along with a nice glass of champagne as we were on our honeymoon. Our first thought was - why had we only decided on staying just two nights. If we hadn't already booked our next destination we would definately have stayed longer. This hotel was set in gorgeous gardens with two little swimming pools, it was just gorgeous. The staff were great, from a casual chat with a young man at the side of the pool before lunch (he had trainee on his badge) we suddenly found that he had secured us a booking for dinner at an amazing restaurant, what a surprise...

The hotel organised a tour of the vineyards which included a couple of extra visits to a chocolate factory and diamond factory, interesting stuff but obviously a sales pitch! The tour was brilliant, our driver was very nice and knew almost as much about the wines as the employees of the vineyards. We finished off our tour with a picnic lunch at one vineyard which was a perfect end.

Franschhoek is a lovely small village with amazing restaurants to visit and stunning scenary. We will definately be coming back!
