Racine definitely live up to the Reubens standard.Great food accompanied by excellent service. Duck salad was delicious and crunchy, Venison was tasty and cooked to perfection. Malva pudding was sweet and succulent. Will surely come back for more.

“Has promise...”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

Being a fan of Chamonix wine, we were keen to try the new(ish) restaurant on site. Being a cold and wet winters day, we were surprised to find that the restaurant was packed. Not that this is in itself a bad thing, but this seems to not be a restaurant for a quiet afternoon, with screaming kids and party-goer tables abound. Service was adequate in the beginning, but faded as the heat was turned up. Food was tasty, but not spectacular. More bistro/country style cuisine than fine dining, but similarly priced to some of the silver spoon establishments nearby, making one question value. Expected at least to have all Chamonix wine available by the glass, but instead only a handful were on offer. Bizarre, considering that the wine tasting counter was literally 20m away! Could do better in a region where consumers are spoilt for choice.

“LOVELY FOOD IN A 'RUSTIC' SETTING”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

What a lovely addition to Reuben Riffels arsenal of great restaurants! Had lunch with friends over the weekend and we had a fantastic time. Thefried chilli salted squid starter was sublime, the baked pumpkin ravioli was delicious with lovely texture and a beautiful tomato pesto, a friend had the line fish which was moist however the broth was a touch bland. The malva pudding was probably one of the best I've ever had, sticky and delicious!! On the downside, the restaurant is a refurbishment from the old Chamonix Restaurant and i personally don't think its the greatest refurbishment, the seating is odd with some couches facing the wall instead of the view outside. The service was great in the beginning, however as the restaurant filled up the service became non-existant with long periods between courses and we had to ask for the bill a number of times. This said, the staff were lovely, friendly and accommodating and the food more than made up for it! We'll definately be back!

“Quaint restaurant, great food”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

The food we experienced at Racine was top class, the first course took a little while to arrive but I think they were a bit busier than normal due to their half price set menu offering on City Slicker. The venue is quaint and rustic with a great setting next to a stream and a "bunch" of trees. The fireplace ensured that the outside chill was kept at bay. The outside seating should be great in the warmer summer months. The directions to the venue are not the best and even when you arrive at the Chamonix wine tasting area it is not obvious that the Racine restaurant is there.

“Don't Miss This Place !”

Racine is located on a vineyard on a hill above Franschhoek, in the trees and alongside a stream. The food was awesome and the service too. We spent several enjoyable hours eating lunch!
