We enjoyed our stay at the Akademie Street Guesthouse. The owners were super nice and very involved in making you feel welcome. The entire staff was stellar as well. We enjoyed day trips to various vineyards which served up delicious food and great wines...but our favorite part of our stay was the amazing homemade breakfasts! The freshest fruits, home cooked everything, it was so delicious.

Our last day we were very sad to miss out on breakfastndue to an early departure (we had booked an early shark cage diving reservation). In a very hospitable move, they prepared a cold breakfast of fruits, yogurt, homemade mueslix, and honey. Respect! In addition when Arthur (the owner) made us our shark diving reservation he instructed the tour company to charge us a lesser rate as Akademie GH does not take a commision. Sure enough when we got there, we paid much less that the advertised rate! What a great place!

We stayed at Akademie Street during February 2011 in Twyfelling. The attention to detail throughout is lovely. We were very relaxed and comfortable. We particularly admired the family portraits on display throughout the house, which were painted by Katherine's father. The breakfasts were fabulous and there was everything you could possibly imagine to eat. Katherine and Arthur were very informative about the Franschhoek area and they advised and assisted us in making restaurant bookings. Our favourites were The Tasting Rooms and Le Quartier Francais, Le Bon Vivant and the Grill Room was good for a steak. Our favourite place for lunch was Cafe Bon Bon, advisable to book. We visited Dieu Donne to watch the sunset, wonderful. On arrival to Franschhoek we visited Le Petite Ferme. The views are breathtaking, the lunch ok. On leaving Franschhoek for our final destination, Cape Town via the Cape of Good Hope, Arthur gave us written directions which proved to be absolutely "spot on". We travelled all along the coastline and the views were truly memorable. We hope to return to Franschhoek some day and we would hope to stay with Katherine and Arthur.

This would be the most difficult place to criticize as the owners and staff seem to care so much that each guest is well taken care of and happy. We rented two units and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Problems like the failure of the internet and TV pale in comparison to the positives that Arthur, Kathleen, Hazel and staff insured. Yes, the breakfast is superb, the place is spotless and charming and they are well aware of the importance of Trip Advisor to their business. After leaving you are asked to write a review which is hard not to do.. they are just so nice. I would most certainly stay there again as Franschoek is utterly charming and Akademie St. Guest House is as well. Well done to you all. The idea of the free mini bar is genius! High perceived value and likely little consumption. One need fear opening the door>

My wife and I spent 4 days here in mid-February. This was our second visit and we enjoyed it as much as, if not more than, the first. Nothing seems too much trouble for Katherine, Arthur, Hazel and the rest of the staff, all of whom are readily available but never obtrusive. The accommodations are extremely comfortable, very well maintained and offer privacy. The whole property has an aura of peacefulness about it, yet is only a few minutes walk from a number of excellent restaurants. It's the perfect base from which to enjoy all that the Franschhoek has to offer. We'll certainly be back.

What a wonderful setting, tucked away in beautiful Franschhoek but only a short walk to the high street and excellent dining. Spacious cottages, well-equipped and serviced. Certainly not your usual corporate hotel! So relaxing and comfortable we wished that we could have stayed longer.
Our hosts and all their staff were wonderful with an emphasis on personal service and attention to detail! Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for your care and consideration. We really enjoyed Franschhoek and would like to return to see more. There is a great selection of wine farms within the area which are easy to find.

We stayed for 4 nights at this amazing b&b/boutique hotel. We were made very welcome - the room was super (Vreude) and the service just great. We had our own little garden and splash pool and total privacy and relaxation. Breakfasts were all you could wish for . We had access to wi fi if we needed it (we used it to research the area we were going to next). Our hosts had all the necessary info about the locality around Franschoek and their recommendations were great. A perfect spot from which to explore the vineyards. There were many restaurants to choose from within walking distance for superb evening meals.
