We stayed two nights in this beautiful hotel and would certainly recommend it. Arthur Katherine and Hazel were extremely hospitable, the breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. We hope to return!

It's difficult to find words to describe the experience of staying at the Akademie Guest House. Surrounded by beautiful paintings and sculptures and with our own little garden it was so delightful. Breakfast had been lovingly prepared and the garden provided a peaceful and attractive venue. On a chilly morning the library was also very inviting, some familiar titles and some new, breakfast could have been extended for an extra hour or so.
It's a bit far to travel from the East of England to Franschhoek for a weekend but perhaps if we ever find ourselves a little nearer we can return.

Akademie Street Boutique Hotel has it all: a great location, charming accommodations, superb staff, gracious hospitality, and a wonderful outdoor breakfast. We knew when Hazel greeted us at the front door we were in for a special lodging experience. Her warmth, concern for our well being, and pride in the hotel immediately came through. We stayed in Twyfeling B; a large comfortable room with its own conservatory. The hotel was remarkably quiet at night and the breakfasts in the main courtyard by the pool were remarkable. Fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, toast, eggs cooked to order, South African sausage, tomatoes, and mushrooms hit the spot. We fell in love with the David Walters honey pot and visited his ceramics shop to bring one home. Our morning visits during breakfast by Hazel, Auntie Margie, and owner Katherine were delightful. Anna the dog spent quite a bit of time by our side. It was an easy walk to main street to take in all of the wonderful shops and restaurants. (Visit the Saturday Market if you get the chance for good food, wine, beer, and gifts to take home.) Although we had to leave very early on a Sunday morning to catch our flight, Hazel arranged for a early cold breakfast to be served in our conservatory. We would definitely stay at Akademie Street Hotel again, and can highly recommend it.

From start to finish this was an exceptional experience. Starting with a warm welcome you are led into beautiful accommodation with wonderfully scenic views. It is a very peaceful and relaxing place. Only regret is that I only booked 1 night! Thanks to Hazel who made us feel so welcome.

My wife and I selected this property based on the reviews on TA for our 4 night stay in Franschhoek. It lived up to all the comments. Katherine, Arthur, Jess, and Anna (their labrador) were wonderful and friendly hosts. They provided so much information for places to see and what to do, and they also provided their recommendations for restaurants, which we gratefully received and booked 2 months in advance (per their advice). We stayed in the separate 2 level guest house, and enjoyed all of the little touches of this lovely property. Breakfast was one of the best I have had the pleasure of enjoying in my travels around the world. A very relaxing end to a 2 week holiday in Sth Africa. Only small areas to consider for our wonderful hosts, the shower head had a mind of its own which made showers entertaining, and only one wardrobe between my wife and I was a little tight. We will be back next year when we do the Garden Route.

Room Tip: The separate guesthouse provides privacy, own pool, and separate entrance and car parking.

This is the first time I have ever written a Trip Advisor Review - I feel compelled to do so because Akademie Street is outstanding!
My husband and I stayed 2 nights and wished we could stay longer. The hotel is charming and the owners and staff professional and caring. The service and attention to detail was second to none - free mini-bar, free laundry, use of a mobile phone, computer etc
When we left Franshhoek I left a cashmere wrap in one of the reataurants in Town - Hazel collected it for us and 2 days later it arrived at our next destination - that's what I call service!!
Thank you Catherine, Arthur and Hazel - we will be back!!!!
Maria and Peter Welland, Berkshire,England

Room Tip: We stayed in the main house by the pool - I think next time we'll try one of the suites.

We had been to a wedding near Paarl and decided to visit Franschhoek on the way back to Cape Town, so booked Akademie Street for 1 night. It didn't disappoint! They get the balance right. Friendly but not intrusive and things that we didn't pay much attention to when booking like free laundry service, free mini bar, free cell phone for making local calls. All nice touches.
We had a great day - a wander around the main street in the morning having coffee at one of the numerous cafes. Lunch at Le Petit Ferme which is less than 5 mins by car. A couple of hours by the pool in the afternoon and dinner at Reubens in the evening. Great breakfast in the private conservatory in the morning. Perfect
