“Stylish and unique accomodation”

We stayed here as the 2nd stop on our honeymoon in South Africa and it was one of our favourite places. They really have thought of everything here, from a mobile phone with pre programmed numbers for bicycle rental and restaurants etc. (which they will of course also book for you) to an espresso machine in your room and a delicious breakfast. It was a peaceful haven with lots of lovely extras. The rooms are beautifully decorated as is the whole house. Hosts are also very welcoming as is Hazel who couldn't have been more helpful. She even brought us a printed out set of directions and a weather report for our next destination on the morning we were leaving. Highly recommended

In a charming setting in this town set amid the spactacular, vineyard-covered slopes of the Frasnschhoek valley, this is an ideal place to relax and switch off. We took the largest of the self-contained units available, essentially a small villa on two floors, withits oen pool and flower-filled garden (including a very private outdoor bath on the upper balcony!). But this comfort and independence comes with all the services of a good hotel. Unobtrusive cleaning staff who follow your hours of coming and going to straighten up, and a delicious breakfast served in a leafy courtyard if you don't wish to prepare your own. Friendly owners and staff, who will go out of their way to help you with advice on what to do and making reservations in the town's many excellent restaurants (some of the best in South Africa), nearly all of which are in walking distance. For us a perfect place for a few days winding down in the middle of some busy business travel. This was a second visit and hope to get back again.

We stayed here as part of our trip around South Africa on our honeymoon - all I can say is WOW!! It was gorgeous. The room was lovely and there were lots of lovely extras. The breakfast was also lovely with fresh smoothies and fruit. I want to go back there!!

Great location. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. A wonderful breakfast cooked to order was a great way to start the day, so much so we skipped lunch. The accomodation itself was clean, open, bright with your own entrance and a balcony. In our "cottage" we shared a small swimming pool with a couple of other guest rooms. All the guest rooms/ cottages are decorated in a different style and some have their own private swimming pool. The gardens are exceptional. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The in-room refrigerator was well stocked with snacks, water, drinks, wine at no extra cost! Wished we could have stayed longer. It was a beautiful and relaxing location.

Perfect place to stay for a few days in Franschhoek. Very large space available for guests, including private veranda. Perfect breakfast. 3 minutes walk to the centre and restaurants. More like owning a home than being a guesthouse.
Drinks included, but unfortunately you have to bring your own wine if you want that.

Having spent 3-nights in "Uitsig" in mid-April, we agree with what everyone else is saying: Akademie Street Boutique Hotel and Guesthouse is absolutely wonderful. Beauty and elegance surround you at every step. The rooms and common areas are tasteful and immaculate. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. Breakfasts were delicious and far more than 2 people can eat!. Hazel and the Akademie Street staff are expert at providing top-notch customer service with warmth and friendliness. Katherine and Arthur are wonderful, friendly hosts who made us feel very welcome during our stay. We would not hesitate to recommend Akademie Street as a base for exploring Franschhoek and the wine lands, and we will definitely return (soon we hope)!

From the moment we arrived and for almost three days we were treated like royalty. The most hospitable owners and staff cared for our every need. The breakfasts in the romantic gardens, the swimming pools, spacious rooms (with every conceivable conveniences), and the proximity to the wonderful shopping and dining---ALL made this one of the BEST hotel experiiences we have ever had--AND we have been around.
