“THE place to stay in Franschhoek”

Luxury guesthouses to suit everyone. Each one secluded from the others, the only time you see other guests is during the fantastic cooked breakfasts - fresh fruit, juices, smoothies, continental, full cooked with delicious local sausages, delicious preserves, and tips and hints about places to go from Arthur and Katherine.
Last time I was here was too short, this time we spent 4 nights here, still not long enough! Next time....

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Akademie Guest House. The staff and owners could not have been more helpful throughout our stay we enjoyed a very personal and warm welcome. Our two bedroom cottage was beautifully furnished and spacious with a lovely garden and plunge pool. A real oasis in Franschhoek.

Staying at Akademie was pefection. Its hosts and staff - with a special mention for Anna the dog - could not do more to make our stay perfect. Breakfasts are superb (fresh orange juice or home-made smoothie, perfectly ripe fresh fruit and everything you could wish for), our room (Twyfeling) was amazingly quiet, beautifully appointed and had a superb bathroom.

At Akademie, it's the little touches which add to the magic: the laundry service included in the room price (very handy when you're travelling for a couple of weeks and are trying to travel as lightly as possible), the free drinks and coffee-making facilities but more mportantly we were extremely impressed with the staff, in particular Hazel, the manager and her team (who ran the place seamlessley while the owners were away for a couple of days) and Arthur and Kathryn's wonderful welcome. and local knowledge. Do stay there, there is nothing that can be faulted, we loved it and are already thinking of going back.

If you like quiet, quality and personal service - then this is for you. From the minute you arrive the team are attentive, helpful and everything is included (eg no paying for silly extras like washing, or water, or even beer). We loved it here and couldn't find anything to fault. The bedrooms and the whole place is stunning.

When we arrived in Franschhoek, we were elated to find ourselves at the Akademie Street Hotel. It truly is a little oasis! The staff, including Hazel, are so caring and cater to your every need and the owners are a delight. We only wish we could have stayed a few more days to sit in the garden and absorb the lovely surroundings... and play with Anna, the house dog, too!

We felt like we were put into their best rooms, and that everything was done to make our stay as comfortable and restful as possible! The service was superb, with lots of little extras. The location is superb, a very tranquil place but just a couple of blocks away from bustling central Franschhoek. A real gem!

Lovely room with all mod cons in a beautiful house close to the centre of Franschooek. Great breakfast, especially outside by the pool on a warm morning. Expensive, but worth it!
