The Last Word Franschhoek

My wife and I stayed at The Last Word Franschhoek for three glorious nights. The boutique hotel seemed like an oasis hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the main street. The accommodation was spacious and extremely comfortable and full marks must go to Conrad and his staff for providing a level of service which couldn't be bettered. Franklin, in particular, was a gem. Friendly and helpful without being obtrusive, he couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The fact that the hotel has only six rooms means that everyone is made to feel special. The breakfasts were superb with a menu to suit every taste. We have no regrets about choosing The Franschhoek and would return without hesitation.

Our stay here was wonderful. The personal attention from Conrad and Franklin was faultless: nothing was too much trouble. The rest of the staff were equally good. We were going to stroll down the street to Ruebens, but it started to rain, so Franklin took us down and picked us up.
Our room was the standard suite, which was a reasonable size and well furnished. The indoor sitting area here looks out though glass doors onto the small (communal) pool, but is at one end so remains fairly private. All the usual fixtures and fittings including a well stocked, free, mini bar. Not that you need it after the wine tasting.
The breakfast menu was excellent and again nothing was too much trouble. The croissants were superb and the range of hot items catered for all tastes.
The hotel is tucked away off the main street, but is in a great position for the local restaurants. For those a little further away, the car service provided by the hotel turned out to be free (up to a 5Km radius I think, certainly as far as “Bread and Wine”).
On our last night it was lovely to return to the rose petal and candles in the room, with a bottle of wine.
This has definitely earned a place in or list of favourite hotels, and we look forward to returning.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were thoroughly spoilt. A warm welcome from Franklin and his team and after a few days we met Conrad. Cannot praise the hotel and the staff enough. Thanks for having us it was great. Hope to come back one day.

My husband and I arrived at The Franschhoek after a v long flight from the UK via Dubai and a 90 minute drive rather exhausted to say the least! However, within minutes, we were totally relaxed and looked after in the capable hands of Franklin who had thoughfully made a reservation for us at The French Connection (highly recommend it!! Amazing food and fabulous wine - what Franschoek is all about!).
Our room was gorgeous, we LOVED the courtesy mini bar (there was nothing mini about it - full bottles of wine, jars of delicious billtong etc) and the toiletries were heavenly - and in proper sized bottles, not the annoying tiny miniatures that grace most hotels.
The intimacy of the hotel (only 5 rooms I think) made the experience all the better. We met our fellow guests over drinks at the Help Yourself bar in the main house each evening, it felt as though it was our own private house party!
The location is fantastic, perfect for exploring the vineyards, restaurants and the area around the town. We had a wonderful afternoon at Boschendaal under the trees with a huge picnic basket ordered for us by Conrad, we would definitely recommend going there.
La Petite Ferme was also an incredible setting for a long lazy gastro lunch.
Overall, we couldn't recommend this place highly enough (and the creme brulees left on our pillows - YUM!).

We thought it would be very nice, but it far exceeded our expectations. Quiet and elegant, with truly superb breakfasts. A large comfy room which had every conceivable amenity. But the key word here is "SERVICE." Conrad was unobtrusive but always around, bouyant and informative, and willing to do almost anything to make our stay better. He even helped us with a rental car issue. And his staff was great -- very friendly and efficient. We had the three nights for the price of two special, which made the value suitable.

Delightful property with helpful staff in the center of Franschoek. We did not use the pool area as it was winter,- it looked small (more of plunge pool) but very nice. View from the rooftop was beautiful in 3 directions. Our room, breakfast and the staff were wonderful. A reservation had been made for us at the French Connection - excellent food. I wish we could have stayed longer, although the rate was a considerable increase due to the World Cup fever (we left before the Cup started). However, it was worth the splurge.

We had a warm welcome even though we arrived later than we had anticipated. Conrad had taken the precaution of booking a restaurant for us and could not have been more helpful. Our room was with a small garden, was beautifully clean and sumptuously furnished.

We stayed for four nights and in all that time Conrad and Franklin were attentive, considerate and obliging. The creme brulees or lemon meringue tarts at bedtime were more than we could cope with after dining out but they were, nevertheless a welcome sign of true hospitality as was the bottle of bubbly on our last evening.

With service of that quality, what more could one wish for?
